Apparently I’m in my “watch me style every corner of this house at 10x speed” era. 😅

There’s nothing quite like that first moment when you walk through the front door and are greeted by a space that feels warm, calm and inviting.

After everything we’ve been through with our build, being able to style the inside of our home has been such a welcome distraction from what still needs to be finished outside. Piece by piece, it’s starting to feel more and more like the home we dreamed of for our family.

Thank you to for gifting these beautiful pieces and helping me bring this space to life.

I have a long wishlist for this space, but sometimes one beautiful piece is all it takes to make a room feel fresh again. ✨ This new rug has breathed new life into the room and added so much warmth while we make the most of the furniture we already have. Feeling so grateful for this gorgeous addition from 🤍

This is not sponsored/gifted. We purchased this lounge with our own money. I knew I wanted a beautiful green sofa, and something that we could just sink into, but we had a pretty limited budget with everything that’s happened with our build. So when I came across this lounge from it checked the boxes, and it was also on sale at the time #bonus

I have to admit, when it arrived, I was pretty shocked to see it in multiple boxes. I opened it and saw all of the pieces. I put it off for a few days thinking it was going to take me days to assemble. But it was actually pretty quick and really easy to do. One of my first thoughts was this isn’t going to look good, but once I finished it, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it looked exactly like the listing on their website. It’s super comfy and it’s going to work seamlessly with the styling I have planned for upstairs lounge room. 😍❤️ #newsofa #newlounge #livingroom
I always start with one special focal point when I’m styling a space, and I knew this was the piece for our upstairs lounge area the moment I laid eyes on it 🤍

This artwork was kindly gifted as part of a collaboration with and from the moment I saw it, I just knew it had to be in our home. It’s bold and beautiful in the best way, it feels welcoming and eye catching, and I absolutely love it!

I’m so excited to build our upstairs lounge around this piece. I’ll be pulling colours and little details from it and letting it guide the whole space.

I can’t wait to take you along as I style the upstairs living area and bring it all to life. 🥰

I was gifted these pieces from and honestly the timing couldn’t have been better.

There’s still parts of our house that aren’t finished yet and a lot of that is out of our control right now… so I’ve been trying to focus on the things I can control.

This cupboard has been one of those things that’s been quietly driving me insane. No system, everything just gets shoved in, and we’re in it constantly.

In our last build I used to get so many comments like ‘good luck cleaning that’ or ‘hope you have a cleaner’ 😂
But what I’ve actually found, especially from renting smaller homes while building, is that smaller spaces can be so much harder to keep tidy because not everything has a place.

And obviously not everyone has the luxury of choosing a bigger home, this is just my experience, but it’s made me realise how important it is that the spaces you do have actually function well.

This house has plenty of storage, but what I love is that has pieces that actually organise the inside of those cupboards so they work even better.

I’ve been trying to be more intentional about making our home feel calmer and more functional, and this has honestly got me so excited to start organising all our spaces to feel this calm and intentional.

It’s amazing how much easier it is to keep things tidy when everything actually has a place.

She’s still very much a work in progress 😮‍💨

No paint yet, the hanging garden isn’t built, the porch isn’t done, and the downstairs lacework still needs to be installed… so this is one where you need to squint a little again to see the vision 🙈🙊

But in all seriousness, this is what it looks like when your builder goes bust. A half finished house and a long, exhausting process to follow. You end up stuck between a rock and a hard place after handing over your money to someone you trusted, only to be left in a nightmare.

The hardest part is that we knew him. We were friends. He knew we had just been through one of the hardest times of our lives with my cancer diagnosis. He also knew his business was already in trouble, yet he still signed us on with him and his wife knowing full well how this could end. We had no idea.

Now we watch from the sidelines as they go on holidays, send their child to one of Brisbane’s most elite private schools, he works for one of Brisbane’s biggest construction companies, and they have just sold a multi million dollar property. We only know this because it’s all shared on social media. Meanwhile, we are here picking up the pieces with a house we paid for in full that looks like this. Not even an apology.

I feel angry. I feel used. It feels completely unjust.

We try to stay positive, but some days it is really hard (today is one of those days). We have an empty pool shell sitting in our backyard while our kids are at the perfect age to enjoy it, and we have no idea when it will be finished. Every last cent we had went to people who did not use it on our home.

It has changed how we live. It has changed the trajectory of our future. We have had to make financial decisions we never wanted to make.

I never named and shamed, but watching them move on like nothing happened cuts deeply. Knowing they took our money and we will never see it again is something we are still trying to process.

We painted our side fence over the Easter break and it looks so much better! It’s so exciting seeing progress no matter how small. I’m sure there’s people who think I’m crazy having a black fence, however I don’t plan on being able to see it eventually once all the plants grow up in front of them. Black disappears with greenery, whereas white stands out. 🖤

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter 🐣

If you could just squint your eyes a little so the pool looks finished, that would be amazing. Ta 🤍

So close to being done! A little painting to finish on the upstairs balcony, pool beadcrete, pool fence, fire pit and cabin… okay, now I write it all out maybe not that close to being done… slowly but surely has become our house motto 🫣
It’s the warmth for me ✨

It’s not styled how I would like, but it’s a work in progress. I’ll share my vision board of what I envision for this space soon 🤎
