ad If you've followed us for a while you'll know that both Alex and I have fractured our spines, Alex 10 years ago now and mine 10x over the past 2 years πŸ™ˆ This means we do not mess around when it comes to ensuring we have a quality mattress for the best nights sleep possible! Throw a toddler into the mix and it has never been more important that we get good restful sleep when we can! We have recently upgraded to the NextGen Cooling Mattress which has 7-zone full body pressure relief from head to toe, as well as revolutionary thermosync technology to keep your body temperature regulated while you sleep. Our fight to find the perfect pillow is finally over thanks to Emma's Premium pillow, temperature regulating and customisable, with removable layers to suit every preference! Alex sleeps on one layer while I prefer all three! The 4 season duvet will ensure we have the perfect tog all year round and the addition of the flip topper gives us extra comfort. We look forward to having the perfect night's sleep even on the warmest summer nights thanks to Emma!

We are in a funny season of life right now. I had hoped to be back to work by now but that is still a long way off which is frustrating and honestly, sometimes I don't know if I will ever make it back. Grateful to be getting better though even if the progress is slow πŸ’• My brain was crying out for a challenge outside of my recovery/motherhood, something to focus on outside of exhausting physio! So I spent December doing some little Christmas craft projects around the house while Mya napped πŸŽ„ I loved designing these and I'm going to be sad to see them come down! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas πŸŽ„
Our baby girl's nursery ❀

Finding out we were having a baby girl before she was born turned out to be one of the biggest blessings. Only Alex, my mum and I knew the gender and my mum and I decorated her bedroom in secret before she was born. I never could have imagined in my wildest dreams that my baby would have outgrew her next to me crib and moved into her big girl cot before I would ever be able to climb the stairs again after birth. I pictured myself pacing these floors in the middle of the night with my baby, but instead I wasn't able to walk and have never been able to lift her from her crib or pace the floors with her. Knowing she had her nursery ready and waiting for her and it wasn't another thing that my illness took from us was so comforting during this time. This may be the last room that I am ever physically able to decorate myself and I am so glad it was hers, my favourite room in the house ❀
1 year on πŸ₯° Thankyou so much to everyone who has reached out over the past 24 hrs, I honestly thought after a year away from Instagram that not many would see my post so it's a little overwhelming πŸ™ˆ Our wee bird is now 1! I have been injecting myself daily with bone building drugs for 6 months now, have learned how to move without ever bending my spine and haven't had any new fractures since January! I have learned how to walk again and this little one decided she didnt want to miss out and took her first steps too at 9.5 months πŸ™ˆ Navigating life as mummy of a toddler that I can't lift or carry or bend down to has a lot of challenges but we manage and are very lucky to have lots of help! There's a lot of rehab ahead but I finally feel like we are coming out the other side of this nightmare now 😊 The past year has been horrific but there are so many more mummies who give birth to babies who are sick or don't make it and I am sure they would do anything to trade places with their sick baby if they could. I will always be so thankful that it is me who is struggling and we have a healthy thriving happy baby girl πŸ₯° Any mummy will know that's all that matters at the end of the day ❀
A whole year since our life as a family of 3 took a very unexpected turn 🀯 My baby was 2 1/2 weeks old and it was Alex's first day back to work. I was finally starting to heal from a traumatic birth. I tried to put her into her pram for a sleep, and just bending with her in my arms was enough to fracture my spine. Breastfeeding meant no pain relief, and every doctor, midwife, nurse just told me back pain after pregnancy was normal. A second fracture and then a third over the next 2 weeks left me totally unable to walk as my spine could no longer hold me upright. I was now bedbound and was still told this was NORMAL after birth while I cried down the phone to my GP. Eventually when I collapsed on the floor screaming with spasms, I had to leave my 5 week old (exclusively breastfed) baby at home and go to A&E. I finally had an MRI scan which confirmed 3 fractures in my spine and spent 8 nights in hospital away from my newborn. There were many many more fractures to come, weeks spent fighting to get a diagnosis, and months spent bedbound. I eventually was diagnosed with a rare condition known as Pregnancy & Lactation Associated Osteoporosis, a condition I will now have for the rest of my life as once bone density is lost it is incredibly hard to get back. My osteoporosis is so severe that my spine fractures even lying flat in bed. Thankfully this condition is so rare at around 4-6 in every million, but for anyone else that may need to hear this, severe debilitating back pain postpartum IS NOT NORMAL. I have connected with hundreds of other women with this condition since diagnosis and the story is the same for us all, the NHS must do better in future but for now all I can do is raise awareness and if anyone reading this ever finds themself/family/friends in a position like this feel free to reach out πŸ₯Ί

πŸ“Έ by just a few days before I fractured πŸ’•
The most exciting Christmas yet ❀ We are so sorry we have been silent on here for so long 😬 We welcomed our perfect wee bird into the family in April and since then I have experienced the craziest postpartum journey. Some day I might share more when I am out the other side, but for now we are focusing on our gorgeous girl and getting ready for her first Christmas ❀ We are so thankful for a happy and healthy baby β€πŸŽ„β›„
Isn't this weather crazy πŸ™ˆ Woke up to a drizzly winters morning and 45mins later I'm leaving the house in a snow blizzard, got stuck on a hill in the snow and had to abandon my car and have Alex come rescue me on the quad πŸ™ƒπŸ€― By lunch time we had a beautiful blue sky and the snow was nearly gone again πŸ™ƒ My first time leaving the house this week and I missed my hair appointment and had to ride through a snow blizzard on the back of the quad 8 months pregnant πŸ˜‚ Hope your weekend got off to a better start than mine? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
Happy Friday everyone! πŸŽ‰ A little corner of our sunroom featuring the chunkiest but comfiest chair ever πŸ₯°

I am hoping to drag Alex out tomorrow and get a few more things sorted for Baby S πŸ₯° I need to make a decision on wallpaper and paint options for the nursery as the rate this little one is growing I'll soon not be fit to decorate πŸ™ˆ Only Alex and I know the gender so I haven't been able to show anyone a mood board or bounce around any ideas which is why I think I am finding it so hard to make a decision! 😬 Alex is great at DIY but useless with selecting paint colours πŸ˜‚ Currently considering accidentally/on purpose telling my mum the gender so then she can help me decide πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ She's great with a paint brush too so its a win win for me πŸ˜‚ Sorry πŸ™ŠπŸ™Š Hope you all have a lovely weekend whatever you get up to! πŸ’•
It's not often the kitchen looks this tidy these days so I had to take a πŸ“Έ for evidence πŸ˜‚ Happy February everyone! Am I the only one who thinks January flew by? πŸ™ˆ The weeks are going in so quickly now! πŸ₯°

#ad No better place to chill after a long day at work πŸ”₯😴 Our tree is pre-lit with the amazing candlelight warm white lights which aren't as harsh as normal LEDs and I have noticed this room feels so much cosier this year πŸ₯° Pre-lit also saves so much time so it's a definite winner for me πŸ™Œ offer free delivery to the whole of Ireland and have an amazing sale on right now πŸ™Œ
