Grab a towel or blanket, and make one yourself!
Perfect for families and caregivers at home or care, as well as for therapists for sessions a teaching caregivers how to do this one at home!
How to make a wedge with a towel:
1. Lay towel flat
2. Fold along the short edge
3. Fold towel almost to the end, repeat x 3 times (or as many as you like for wedge height!)
4. Flip over! And you have yourself a wedge!

Here are a few of my favourite activities that I do when I’m practising and working on hair tying goals with my clients!
These activities help kids get used to using different hair ties, practice the movement patterns of the wrist and hand manipulating the bands using fine motor as well as as the skill of being able to reach out behind your head.
You can adapt these activities so easily to make it work for you and your clients needs!

Using SQUIGZ is one of my favourite ways to practice reaching behind to mimick the movement patterns! It achieves trunk rotation, reaching, using the hand without visual cues, and requires core stability.
It’s a fun way to get kids involved in practicing without needing anything toilet related at all!

One of my go-to strategies for supporting scissor skills is using visual cues (like stickers or dots) to show kids where their helping hand should go! 💡
🔘 Just pop a few dots or stickers along the line or shape.
🗣️ Then prompt: “Hold the next sticker!”
It’s such a simple, adaptable way to support hand placement, coordination, and success with cutting tasks!

I did miss one though, and it’s probably the most important one…. ALLOCATE TIME IN YOUR DIARY!!
Im my own worst nightmare, overbooking and then having no time to get them done; which then results in me wanting to work outside of work hours to keep up. It puts me in a bad cycle; and it’s completely my own fault.
So please if you see this and take away one thing: Allocate time. If you don’t, when do you expect to get the done?
Here’s to me focusing on taking my own advice more often!
