CARMA FERRIER__I met Carma years ago through a mutual friend. From that first meeting, I knew this woman was special. Not only is she deeply talented, she is down to earth, kind, beautifully intentional and thoughtful. While she was creating long before she began hand-built pottery, it has been a complete joy to see the beauty she now forms through clay.
Carma started hand building pottery eight years ago, shortly before moving with her family to Mexico. Her initial interest in pottery soon grew into an obsession, as she drew her inspiration from the many local craft villages she visited in Oaxaca, Michoacán, Guerrero and other states. There she discovered that every style of ceramic was specific to the village and varied in color and texture based on the type of soil and finishing techniques.
Carma has since returned to Portland where all of her pottery is hand built using the coil technique and the clay she uses is sourced in the Pacific Northwest. The end use is always at the forefront and she uses minimalism to highlight each piece. By hand building, Carma hopes to infuse a sense of warmth and uniqueness to her craft—and she has.
This year we are featuring her candlesticks.* I am looking at one on my coffee table as I type. They are a favorite. It’s easy to imagine her pressing her finger into the clay to make these beautifully organic shapes. They’re beautiful on their own, as a pair, or as grouping as they’re all one of a kind.
If you’re like me, the pieces you own of Carma’s won’t simply be pulled out for special occasions; they’ll become a regular point of interest in your home’s interior. Glad to have you on board, Carma.
* and two beautiful bowls that snuck their way into the box. 🫶🏻

My nieces have “Solveig the duckling” and “Marlowe the red panda” framed on their wall. And has, well—“Agatha the cat” obviously. 😆
No reservation needed; just make your way over to her! Payment goes directly to Michelle.
But that’s not all: we are also carrying prints of Michelle’s most precious illustrations. If you’re looking for a little whimsy for your wall, she will utterly delight you. Her work transports you into another world. Her little characters and the worlds arounds them are magical. I can’t wait for you to experience them, to gift them, to live with them.
Yay!! One more sleep people and Osay Linger’s doors will be open to the public!

A little about Courtney:
“I am a ceramic artist living and working in Ballard. I came to clay as a way to unwind from a fulfilling albeit exhaustive career as a NYC fashion designer. I quickly found myself enthralled by this new medium. It wasn’t until my husband and I moved to Seattle and had our first child, that I allowed myself to think bigger. I began thinking of clay beyond a serious hobby and took the semi-dramatic leap of leaving the safety of my corporate job. Since living a more artistic and intentional life, I haven’t looked back. I have been honing my craft and creating the pieces that I want to see in the world and live with in my own home.
“Like many others, clay didn’t come super easily to me. I struggled on the wheel for years and it wasn’t until I discovered hand-building and put in hours of practice on the wheel that I could make the pieces I was dreaming up. My process incorporates both hand-building and the wheel, as it allows me to achieve results that go beyond the boundaries of both. When creating, I place a strong emphasis on form, aiming to design objects that are not only utilitarian but also show the handmade process. I am drawn to matte glazes that are subtle and easy to live with. When I build my pieces, I envision how they will be integrated into the lives of friends, family, and clients. My intention is for each piece to add an understated beauty to the home that can bring appreciation and calm to the routine of everyday life.”
Whether it’s one of her wavy bowls, a clam shell ring holder, a sweet ribbon Hanukkah ornament, or a ceramic charm necklace, I know you will leave smiling. That’s just what happens in the presence of her work.

I love how Ruby and Rob tell their story best so, in their own words:
“Coming from a multi-cultural family, being half-African American and Japanese and half Irish Italian, there was always a variety of amazing foods in Ruby’s house—her favorite and crunchiest were her papa’s tempura and fried fish.
“Rob discovered the magic of the crunch when he learned the secrets behind his Grandma Muriel’s buttery crispy breakfast potatoes (soft on the inside and oh so crispy on the outside)—ever since then, he has been obsessed with flavor and texture, building his career in the food industry since he was a teenager.
“As luck would have it, the universe decided these two should meet…a downright pair of flavor fiends. There was always something afoot in the kitchen of their tiny Capitol Hill apartment—things simmering, braising, and boiling over; roasty toasty smells and dishes piling up. Chili Crisp, being one of their all-time favorite condiments, was something they would always pick up at the store. Eventually, the kitchen tinkerers within became curious and started to create an at-home version. They wanted to make a chili crisp that had all of their favorite flavor elements and a CRAZY CRUNCH. Using both of their super skills, they tested, fiddled, experimented, shared, tracked, tinkered, toiled for almost two years….
“And then BOOM…KariKari was born!!
“KariKari, which means crispy in Japanese, is a blending of many things, and an ode to all that came before: to grandmothers and grandfathers, parents, chefs, mentors; to the memories of Calabrian chili paste on pasta in Italy, salsa macha in the southern regions of Mexico, Lao Gan Ma slicked noodles in Xiamen, tương ớt sa tế on a glistening bowl of bún bò Huế in Seattle’s International District, and S&B Crunchy Garlic on chilled tofu. KariKari was created with respect for the past and honor for the future.”
We even have large jars for our super fans!!
I’m excited to be carrying a few of her small encaustics that would add a beautiful, contemplative moment to any room, either one, or a group of them. In addition, she has made ornaments! Yes you got it: beautiful, little pieces of encaustic art for your tree.
Each ornament and painting is built through many fused layers of wax and pigment. All pieces are made by hand in her south Seattle studio. 🫶🏻

Mehdi Boujrada, the man behind the spices, sauces, and condiments, refers to their line of pantry items as his “love letter to the flavors of the Levantine region.” Having grown up in Morocco, the are inspired by those of his childhood. His story telling is the best way to spark your curiosity so I leave you with this:
“There’s a tuna sandwich I ate constantly growing up in Casablanca, Morocco. After soccer and surfing. At the market. As a celebratory meal after scoring a new pair of Jordans. Known as Thon Ohror, it’s tuna mixed with mayo and harissa, then spread on a baguette with hard-boiled eggs, olives, sliced tomatoes, red onion, potatoes, cornichons, and parsley. Those who know it live for it. A bite brings a smile to their face, a reminder of warm, sunny Moroccan days. I love watching people try it for the first time—the textures, the flavors, the history—especially the warm heat of harissa, Morocco’s signature condiment.
“Those experiences are exactly what I want to capture with Villa Jerada: a nod to the past with our feet firmly in the present. Our spreads, sauces, and spices honor the traditions woven through centuries of Moroccan and Levantine cooking, while introducing even the most modern cooks to the flavors I grew up with. We use recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. So while our products would make any Moroccan grandmother proud, including my own, they also feel just as at home on today’s ever-changing, ever-evolving tables.
“Villa Jerada’s offerings, made from the highest quality, most painstakingly sustainable ingredients are my love letter to the flavors of the Levantine region, a place in the world that is so much richer and more beautiful that many in the west know. Read my letters in the form of bright chermoula, rich and luscious tahini, indispensable dukkah, and a ras el hanout that will warm your heart and turn a tough day around.
“From my family to yours, wherever you are,
Mehdi”
Your Villa Jerada love letter awaits at Osay Linger.
We’ll be carrying two of their bars, peppermint bark, candied ginger and candied Cacao nibs. Grab some to put out when your friend stops by for a cup of coffee…or to enjoy all on your own. 😊
