I’m incredibly honored to be the face of The Tulanian Magazine Fall 2020 Edition! This year truly is a time of change!
The first ever African American student graduated from Tulane University in 1966.
I now hold TWO degrees, an MD and and MBA, from Tulane programs in which the first Black grads came several years later.
I am also a TULANE DOCTOR.
I cannot imagine how difficult it must have been to be the only Black student in an entire university. But I DO understand how it feels to be a member of the less than 5% Black physicians in America.
We need more Black doctors. Period.
Research has proven countless times that Black patients have better outcomes under the care of Black doctors.
If we have more Black doctors, we will save more Black lives.
Thank you, Tulane, for opening doors of opportunity and allowing me to be a part of this. Hundreds of thousands of alumni and donors will see the movement.
To all those aspiring for medical school (or any other professional school because we need y’all too!!), you are next!!
