🇬🇧 Safety during a bike ride, especially when cycling on such demanding route like the one we’ll be tackling at the Maratona dles Dolomites, passes thorough the bike check. A final bike check before the starts protects us from any inconveniences that may arise during the race, considering that we may have displaced or damaged something during its transport. If you’re in Corvara, remember to stop by Officinal Enel powered by Shimano to have all the components checked. Taking care of the bike I spend so much of my time on, is essential!
🇬🇧 One year later: everything seems so the same, yet everything so different inside me. Friday at the Maratona dles Dolomites is always the day I love because I manage to carve out those few hours alone just with myself, despite the many work commitments and sharing my passion with the sponsors and fans who crowd the streets. Grateful to still be here, a year after that terrible accident.

Fisioterapia, ripresa in acqua e poi in bici.
🇬🇧 There are only three weeks left until the start of the. For sure the knee injury, which struck right at the most crucial moment of my preparation, has complicated things. But it’s equally true that wasting time cursing any bad luck (which has nothing to do with it: it’s just part of doing sport) would be a waste of precious energy.
This break has helped me focus my energy even more. Physio, swimming pool recovery, and then on the bike. Now all my thoughts are focused on trying to get going with the goal of finally crossing that finish line.

Ancora e ancora.

DNF after 890 km (-340 to go)
🇬🇧 Although I came here to best train for the Transcontinental, I tried to honor the race as I always have done, fighting until the point where, with my hand more on my brain rather than my heart, I had to make the decision to scratch. The last 500 km, cycled on one leg, were a long journey of physical pain, but when, upon arrival in Sarajevo, still just shy of the podium, I looked in the mirror and noticed that the large edema in my left knee made it almost invisible compared to my right, I had to make the decision we had already discussed with my coach and physiotherapist: to stop to avoid a long layoff that would have made it impossible to recover in time for the TCR.
It remains an excellent training session, albeit with a bit of disappointment, but with the promise of coming back to discover even more of this wonderful land. Thanks to Nikica and to the organization for the received support.
🇬🇧 Data don’t define the dimension of an adventure, but in sport they are fundamental: in a world where, especially thanks to social media, it seems that any “story” is real, and where everyone comes to tell us about amazing feats without the slightest possibility of verifying whether they were actually accomplished, and if so, in full, especially now that we have the tools to record every step we take, it’s impossible, from my point of view, to talk about “activity completed” without providing an account of it.
You experienced this adventure every day, live, thanks to the online tracking that updated my position every 10 minutes, through photos and videos, and with the file I posted daily at the end of each stage, which allows you to analyze watts, heart rate, pedaling dynamics, and every single piece of data capable of accurately certifying the route taken.
You can also find the complete file here, available on my Strava account.

Buon inizio a tutti!
🇬🇧 2026 will be my 15th Ultracycling season. I never thought I’d be able to get this far, always with the same motivation and the same dreams to realize.
It will be an intense year, full of goals, travel, and adventures, with the hope of experiencing cycling again with the same enthusiasm as when I first put my foot on the pedal. I’m already working to make all this a reality and... to complete one of my biggest dreams.
I’ll still have by my side the people and companies who believed in all this, fueling that inner search and that long journey through my limits, with a little big news that I’ll reveal to you in the coming days (but perhaps those who are more attentive will understand who I’m talking about from the video).
Have a good 2026 beginning everyone!

“Omar, your time is over” | Total distance 716.5 km ❄️
(DAY 47+48 - 36.5 km // 19h00’)
