Not just because the lighting was perfect, the location was meaningful to them, or their outfits were just 🧑🍳🤌🏼, but because of how they showed up—joyful, relaxed, and totally themselves.
⚡️Photographers: Your clients being this comfortable is not something you can force, and it’s rarely something that just happens. But with the right prep and a little space to breathe, sessions can feel this natural.
It’s all about explaining your process thoroughly before you even take their photo, *and* making sure they have enough opportunities to get to know you, before you ever meet face to face. So next time you’re planning your session, keep in mind:
1. What can I share with my clients right now that will help them relax and move more during our session? (comfortable outfits, mindset of candid shots, truly enjoying their family during this session)
2. Am I posting photos and videos of myself on my instagram page? Not to be a ~content creator~, truly just to show my clients who I am before I photograph them. Getting your photo taken is so vulnerable, and it helps knowing who is going to be behind the camera.
