【Coloring the Sculpture | Cray-Pas】
This is the second piece created from a newly made plaster mold.
Unlike the first piece, the coloring was done exclusively using Cray-Pas Specialist by Sakura Color Products.
I am drawn to the unique, soft texture it creates.
This work will be exhibited in a Cray-Pas exhibition touring three venues starting in June.

Signs of Autumn

People have great expectations of landscapes. Japan has four different seasons and I like autumn the best. Leaves turn red and yellow and then fall to the ground. This chain of events reminds me of my old self.
人は風景に様々な思いを寄せる。日本の風景は四季によって変化があり、私は秋が好きだ。葉が赤や黄に染まり、そして散る姿に私の記憶を重ねた。

Mountain Ridge（Cloud_3）

I was inspired by the clouds stretching and spreading horizontally over the Iga mountain ridge. Clouds emerge and disappear at will, changing their shapes as they go. Sometimes they look bright and generous, and sometimes they give a dark and violent impression, overlapping the human figure with such elusive impressions. In this work, the boundary between figuration and abstraction, or the interplay between the two, is expressed in the way the figures change along with their environment and time. The postures of the figures are chosen to look a little comical, but what I want to express is the reality and unreality as well as serious emotions felt through them.
伊賀の山際にかかる、伸びやかに横に広がっていく雲からイメージした。雲は常に現れては消えながら、自由に形が変わっていく。明るく大らかな表情をしている時もあれば、暗く激しい印象を与える時もあるが、そのような掴みどころのない印象に人の姿を重ね合わせた。環境や時間によって変容していく人物の有り様を、具象と抽象の境界あるいは渾然と共に表している。人物のポーズは、少し滑稽にもみえるものを選んだが、表現したいことはそこから感じ取れる現実と非現実であったり、シリアスな感情だったりする。

幻影／Optical Illusion（Empty_1）

There are many masterpieces of human figure sculpture that are designed to stand firmly against gravity. Among these, the sculptures of the Greek Classical period are particularly noteworthy. Their forms, which developed from the laws of nature, express the ideal human body and are considered to be one of the most perfect forms of figurative sculpture. In my quest for a new development in my work, I have attempted to remove the sense of life and reality from their forms. The reality that I empathize today is not the solid sense of existence shown in Greek sculpture, but the instability that changes over time and in the environment, and the process of change itself. This attempt made the figure I was seeking into something like an illusion, and created “Empty” within the sculpture.
