It’s only this year (4 years after my ADHD diagnosis and rock bottom burnout) that I’ve had to question what might be causing me to burnout so bad.
My masking didnt save my job, it didnt stop me from friendships ending - all it did was make me really fucking tired and confused about who i actually am at my core.

As a fine haired bleached girlie I’ve never had swishy hair but last year, before my wedding, I finally, with the right routine and 💕, achieved my wish….only for it to fall out in January a few months after my wedding 😭😭

This feels pretty deep to share but when I filmed this 6 weeks ago I felt like I’d reached the bottom of burnout and I want to be honest about where I am because it’s had an impact on everything, confidence, relationships, my work most of all.
👇 It was years of the following cycle that got me here:
The feeling of having to work harder > yet you’ve still never done enough > shame talking yourself > push yourself to do more > denying yourself rest because you feel like you’re not living up to your own potential > losing confidence that you can “do it” > identity crisis fueled by who you are and what you really want.
I’ve taken some time off this summer and i’m nGL. I still don’t feel better or ready to jump back and it’s taking all my self awareness to not beat myself up about it.
Burnout is a b*tch by ADHD burnout goes way deeper than mental and physical exhaustion.
If you feel like you’re right here, then same. I know we want it to be over but there is no easy fix and it requires some radical adjustments, more mentally than physically imo.
Be as patient as you can, have a sofa day, cancel plans, but also recognise when it’s time to start taking gentle action towards recovery
