These 3 little ones were brought in by a caring finder believing them to be orphaned squirrels!
Mink’s metabolisms are extremely high and need round the clock feeding to survive.
Mink are not a common patient for us, we receive about 5 per year. But orphaned mink even less common, having been several years since we’ve had them!
They are as cute as they are stinky! 🤣

⚠️If you find a healthy turtle crossing the road and it is safe to do so, help them cross in the direction they are heading.
⚠️If you find an injured turtle anywhere in Ontario follow these simple steps: contain the turtle if it’s safe for you to do so, make note of exactly where you found it, and call us at (option 9). We’ll walk you through what to do, and make arrangements to get the turtle to our center. If you find an injured turtle outside of our operating hours, please keep it somewhere safe until we can get back to you.

When a Fawn Loses Its Mother
It’s baby fawn season—this is the time of year when white-tailed deer are giving birth across Ontario. With more people spending time outdoors, it’s also when fawns are most often discovered. Here’s what you need to know.
A white-tailed deer fawn’s best chance of survival is always with its mother. However, sometimes—due to car accidents, predators, or illness—the mother does not return.
So, what happens next?
Newborn fawns are nearly scentless and instinctively remain very still to avoid predators. Without their mother to nurse and protect them, they can quickly become dehydrated, malnourished, or chilled—especially overnight.
It’s important to remember that mother deer often leave their fawns hidden for hours at a time, particularly in the first few weeks when the babies are too small and unsteady to follow. If you find a fawn lying quietly in a safe place, not crying, wandering, or injured, it is most likely not abandoned.
Be concerned only if the fawn is:
* Crying persistently
* Wandering aimlessly
* Injured
* Ears are curled (dehydration)
*Covered in bugs, fleas or flies
* Known to have a deceased mother
In these cases, check back in several hours and contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator before intervening.
At a rehabilitation centre, orphaned fawns are bottle-fed specialized formula, gradually introduced to natural browsing foods, and raised with minimal human contact to ensure they remain wild—until they are ready to return to the forest where they belong. 🌲🦌

Day 11
Once raccoons are weaned from formula, they are given a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, grains and proteins to support their growth. Here, a volunteer works to cut up fruits and veggies to feed animals in care. NWRF helps to support these activities by freeing up rehabbers and their volunteers by taking on sourcing, importing and delivering food and supplies.
Day 10
One way that NWRF helps feed raccoons, skunk and other meat eating animals is by creating mixtures of dog food from different protein sources. These are ready to scoop for hungry juveniles and save time for rehabbers so they can direct their efforts towards looking after the mammals in their care. Dog food is also used in the bush to support newly released raccoons transitioning into the wild.
