🔑 Type 1 vs. Type 2 What’s the difference?
1️⃣ Type 1 Diabetes: 💉 An autoimmune condition where the body attacks insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. There’s no cure, but with insulin and proper care, it’s manageable. 💉 Around 5-10% of people with diabetes in the UK have Type 1.
2️⃣ Type 2 Diabetes: The most common form of diabetes, where your body becomes resistant to insulin over time. 🩺 Lifestyle plays a huge role ~ what you eat, how active you are, and even your stress levels can impact your health. With the right choices, Type 2 can be managed.
With the right choices, Type 2 diabetes can be managed and, in some cases, blood sugar levels may improve to the point where medication is no longer needed, but it’s important to remember: diabetes is a lifelong condition that requires ongoing care.
Risk factors include genetics, obesity, physical inactivity, poor nutrition, family history, and age. Around 90% of people with diabetes in the UK have Type 2.
🚨 Symptoms to watch for:
* Blurry vision 👀
* Constant fatigue 😴
* Unexplained weight loss ⚖️
* Tingling hands or feet 🤔
If left unchecked, diabetes can lead to serious complications like heart disease, kidney problems, and nerve damage. 🩺

We often overlook digestive health, but it plays a huge role in how we feel day to day - from energy levels to mood and immunity.
🌿 Nutrient Absorption: A healthy gut helps your body absorb vital nutrients - carbs, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals - needed for energy, cell growth, and repair.
🛡️ Immune Support: Did you know 70–80% of your immune system is in your gut? A balanced microbiome helps regulate immune responses and defend against illness.
🧠 Mental Health: Thanks to the gut-brain axis, your gut health directly affects your mood and mental clarity. A nourished gut may reduce anxiety and support emotional well-being.
💡 Support Your Gut:
🥝Fibre: Aim for 30g/day. Found in whole grains, fruits, veg, beans, legumes, oats.
💦Hydration: Water helps digestion, absorption, and prevents constipation. Drink with meals + eat water-rich foods like watermelon or soups.
🍗Healthy Fats & Lean Proteins: Limit fried foods and saturated fats. Choose grilled fish, legumes, poultry, and other gut-friendly options.
🥝 Struggling with constipation?
Eating just two kiwis 🥝🥝 a day can naturally soften stools, boost gut bacteria, and get you moving. 🥝
Small changes can lead to significant improvements in your digestive health and overall well-being…

🧂Sodium is an essential mineral found in many common foods, either naturally or added as salt during cooking or manufacturing, for flavour or preservation.
🌟Sodium plays important roles in cell function, blood pressure control, muscle contraction, and nerve function. It’s essential for maintaining balanced body fluids and electrolytes.
📌While "sodium" and "salt" are often thought to be interchangeable, they are not the same thing! "Salt" refers to the crystal-like compound sodium chloride (e.g. table salt), while "sodium" refers to the chemical element and dietary mineral, which makes up a PART of salt.
🥘 Sodium occurs naturally in many foods like celery, beetroot, dairy and shellfish. It’s also added to many packaged foods during manufacturing—often in amounts that are considered much too high. High-sodium products can include processed meats like salami, canned soups, salad dressings, and soy sauce. Some restaurant or fast foods may also have high sodium contents.
‼️Adults should eat no more than 6g of salt a day (2.4g sodium) – that's around 1 teaspoon. The average person in the UK is thought to eat around 8.1g salt a day. Too much dietary salt can lead to high blood pressure; the main cause of strokes and a major cause of heart disease.
To reduce salt intake:
🍓Include a variety of fruits and vegetables in your diet regularly
🥄Taste your food first before adding salt
🥫Read food labels
🍋🟩Experiment with spices, fresh herbs, lemon juice, lime juice and vinegars.
While sodium is often portrayed as an unhealthy ingredient, it's actually a key nutrient for a healthy and functional body! But like all other foods and nutrients, it should be consumed in moderation as part of a balanced, varied diet. 🧂💓
Since salt is such a common ingredient, it can be tricky to keep track of your intake, but there are many resources that can help. Check out for more information!
