"Origami" by Aman Modyev. The artist presents his favorite genre of still life. Here we see a simple composition with paper flowers – origami. Convention is the main component of the artwork. Conditional flowers in a conditional vase against a background of plaster ornament. But the artist beats all this simplicity with subtle combinations of pure colors and shades. In general, the cold color of the work is played out with warm and golden color blotches of origami and background. It would seem that the white neutral plaster ornament is literally broken into mosaic details of light, shadow, individual halftones. The artist intentionally complicates the color, making the work more textured. Origami here turns into an ornament that is present everywhere, its silhouettes are used in the image of the background and foreground. The work looks like a beautiful decorative panel, where all symbols urge you to enjoy the harmony of colors and shades.

Mammed Yarmammedov, work from the Nokhur series. An amazing coloring painting immediately attracts attention. The combination of gradations of thin pastel shades of silver-matte colors gives the work lightness and airiness. The storyline is predictable, but each time enriched with new semantic symbols. The work refers to unusual but beautiful dreams of nostalgia for the places you saw, where you want to return again. The artist doesn’t change the chosen construction of a “flat” composition. Along with the images of people and their environment, the atmosphere forms a delicate pictorial language, which makes objects vulnerable and transparent, ready to “melt” in the air and turn into an illusory haze. The endangered beauty of the authentic life of those places needs special care and preservation. This is the message of the artist.

‘Moonlight Night’ by Mammed Yarmammedov. This work belongs to his well-known series ‘Ornaments’, where the artist is inspired by motives of national art. This painting is associated with the psychedelic metaphysics of non-art, where only sensation from contemplation is put at the forefront. The soft harmonious color of the work sets a calm mood, where details of Turkmen ornaments ‘soar’ in a bluish-aquamarine haze, similar to mysterious letters. A moonlight night with a deformed moon like a camel milk cheese loaf surrounded by these unusual patterned clouds. There is a state of peace and tranquility, a feeling of home and a complete merger with its roots. The color of the work can’t be called simple, it is iridescently complex, this conceals the depth of the painting.

Canvases from this series distinguish by rich palette and by extra decorative approach. Works are set in a flat painting style, bypassing usual rules of perspective. Elements filling the composition are fulfilled extremely conditionally and metaphorically, as if they are parts of a carpet’s ornament. A solo exhibition ‘Love for the Motherland’ by the Turkmen artist Mammed Yarmammedov was opened in Baku (Azerbaijan). The exhibition was organized by Nusay Gallery (UAE) in partnership with Art Tower Gallery (Azerbaijan).

Mammed is one of the most interesting representatives of the visual arts in Turkmenistan. The exhibition presents two series of works. The greatest interest was caused by paintings from the series ‘Ornaments’ and ‘Nohur’. Through them, the artist expresses his love for the homeland, for its cultural heritage. Critics noted the transformation of motives of national applied art into unusual visual solutions.

Mammed’s paintings are distinguished by decorativeness, conventionality, planar color scheme, ‘broken’ perspective. His works have a bright, fresh color; special importance is attached to the combination of pure color spots and planes, the play of light and shadow, cold and warm colors. “Red Shoes” by Mammed Yarmammedov. Similar to a patchwork panel, the artist’s work attracts with naive simplicity and clean local colors. But, at the same time, one feels a reverent attitude of the master to the topic of female essence, female beauty. The image of a woman is collective, she can be a mother, sister, bride. The humble simplicity and modesty, hiding the tender soul of a woman from the eyes of others, the inner world of the craftswoman, the hearth keeper, is a source of inspiration for the artist. But the woman is alive, her image is a little playful and this feature is given by symbolic red shoes. It is women who create the beauty of textile art, and here the craftswoman herself becomes a part of the picturesque ornament, created with love by the artist.

Но женщина живая, её образ немного игрив и эту особенность и придают символические красные туфельки. Красоту текстильного искусства создают именно женщины, и здесь сама мастерица становится частью живописного орнамента, с любовью сотворённого художником.

“The Village”. The artist chose a rather unusual method of compositional solution of the work, where local colors and a “flat” image form a “layering” of plots on top of each other, like layers of a picturesque “cake”. Mammed intentionally distorts the perspective – his heroes, their homes and utensils, literally, hover one above the other, devoid of the laws of attraction. The artist is moving away from realism, giving the viewer the opportunity to come up with his own, albeit slightly mystical, story of the life of this village. The visual language of details of the composition: trees, animals, buildings, and even shadows, is symbolic, ornamental. A calm, measured rhythm of work tunes in a slow motion. This is the movement of the elders along the road, the movement of the river, the movement of the sun in the sky, which together constitutes the movement of being. It goes its course, by passing the storms and winds of modern life.

«Село» Мамеда Ярмаммедова, (серия «Нохур», холст, масло). Художник избрал довольно необычный метод композиционного решения работы, где локальные цвета и «плоское» изображение формируют «наслоение» сюжетов один на другой, словно, пласты живописного «торта». Мамед намерено искажает перспективу, – его герои, их дома и утварь, буквально, парят друг над другом, лишённые законов притяжения. Художник уходит от реализма, давая возможность зрителю придумать свою, пусть немного мистическую историю жизни этого села. Изобразительный язык деталей композиции: деревьев, животных, строений, и даже, теней, символичен, орнаментален. Спокойный, размеренный ритм работы настраивает на лад медленного движения. Это движение аксакалов по дороге, движение реки, движение солнца на небосводе, что вместе составляет движение бытия. Оно идёт своим чередом, минуя штормы и ветры современной жизни.
