Hot cross buns are back this Friday across all Northern Rye shops.
We start the day before with a milk sponge, giving the dough time to develop flavour and softness before the final mix.
Then in goes the good stuff milk, eggs, butter and warming spice before we load the dough with fruit: raisins, sultanas, currants, cranberries, mixed peel and chunks of stem ginger.
Each bun is finished with the traditional cross and baked until deep golden.
Soft, fragrant, properly fruity and best eaten toasted and absolutely slathered with butter.
Launching Friday 13th March at all shops.
Danish pastry with roasted Yorkshire forced and orange & cardamom rice pudding.
The rhubarb is roasted to keep that sharp, bright flavour, then paired with a creamy rice pudding scented with orange and cardamom. All wrapped in our buttery laminated pastry.
