ヴォイス・オブ・アース デザイン小委員会では、地球環境や将来世代を搾取する構造からの脱却を目指し、地球の声を代弁する建築デザイン、設計思想、建築技術のあり方について議論を重ねてきた。小委員会のメンバーの多くが里山再生の活動を通して、人間が管理する人工的環境と動植物が自律的に生存する野生的領域の交差する場において成立する生態系について理解を深めてきた。また、そこから得られた伝統知（生態系に関わる経験的知識）を現代の都市や建築へ応用することについて議論し実践してきた。しかしながら里山再生の活動は、当事者（里山の居住者および活動参加者）と都市生活者との間の認識的隔たりにより、異なるリアリティの中で受け止められている。その結果、建築・都市のヴィジョンにも大きな乖離が生じている。実際、里山活動に対して、資本主義的な市場原理に適合しないこと、一般化や拡張が困難であることを理由とする批判が少なくない。極端には里山活動がシティボーイまたはシティガールの遊びに留まり、社会変革には至らないという見方もある。これらの批判に応答するためには、当事者に閉じない包括的なヴィジョンと新たな建築・都市の説明言語を構築することが必要であろう。直近のホルムズ海峡の不安定化に伴う石油製品の供給制限と価格上昇は、グローバルな資源流通網への依存が、遠隔地の他国の政治的・軍事的状況と私たちの日常を密接に結びつけていることを示している。この状況は同時に、里山にみられる循環的環境が持続的資源調達の代替モデルとしても再評価されうることを逆説的に示唆している。本パネルディスカッションでは、里山の実践が示唆する、近代以降の人口増加と経済成長を前提とした世界観からの転換の可能性に着目し、短期的な経済合理性に留まらない、長期的に持続する人間の暮らしとそれを支える建築のあり方について議論を深める場としたい。

The building is composed as a simple volume with a controlled interior layout that maximizes usable space within limited dimensions. Openings are positioned to regulate daylight and views while maintaining privacy. The plan minimizes circulation areas, allowing primary living functions to overlap within a continuous interior.
Material selection and detailing emphasize efficiency and clarity, where structure and enclosure are closely integrated. The project operates as a study in spatial reduction, balancing constraint with functional completeness.

1993年に建設された大阪ガスの実験集合住宅「NEXT21」。大阪ガスの社員が実際に居住しながら、「環境」「エネルギー」「暮らし」をテーマに多様な実験と検証が重ねられてきました。立体街路や建物緑化を取り入れ、集合住宅をひとつの「街」として捉える構想のもと、さらにスケルトン・インフィル（SI）工法を採用することで、時代の変化や生活ニーズに応じた住空間の更新が試みられてきました。
本スタディツアーでは、建築家の川島範久氏を案内役に、同氏がインフィル設計を手がけた504号室に見学します。この住戸では、従来のように既存インフィルを全面的に撤去するのではなく、既存部材を可能な限り残し、それらを素材として再構成することで、空間の履歴を引き継ぎながら新たな住まいを編み直す試みが行われました。現地では、具体的な設計プロセスや空間の考え方について、設計者自身に解説していただきます。
また、過去のフェーズで改修された３つの住戸も合わせて見学し、NEXT21において長年続けられてきた住まいの実験が、各時代の中でどのように展開してきたのかを体感します。
見学会の後には、建築家であり建築構法を専門とする門脇耕三氏をゲストに迎え、NEXT21のホールにてトークイベントを開催します。今回試みられた「編み替える更新」が、一住戸の設計にとどまらず、建築全体、さらには都市の更新へどのように接続していくのか。建築構法、生産、理論といった観点から、スケルトン・インフィルや実験住宅の今日的意義と可能性について議論します。

1982年生まれ。建築家。博士（工学）。川島範久建築設計事務所代表。明治大学准教授。ノルウェー科学技術大学客員教授。2005年東京大学工学部建築学科卒業。’07年東京大学大学院修士課程修了。’07～14年日建設計。’12年UCバークレー客員研究員。’16年東京大学大学院博士課程修了。東京工業大学助教などを経て、現職。’14年「NBF 大崎ビル（旧ソニーシティ大崎）」にて日本建築学会賞（作品）、’24年「GOOD CYCLE BUILDING 001」にて日本建築学会作品選奨など受賞多数。
