and team have designed the new brand identity for, the 370-acre urban redevelopment project in Toronto.

How do you brand a 370-acre transformation that won’t be complete for three decades? The former Downsview Airport lands—fenced-off runways and industrial hangars at the edge of established Toronto neighborhoods—represented one of the most ambitious city-building projects in North America. The project needed to feel monumental enough to inspire confidence in a multi-generational vision, yet intimate enough to feel genuinely connected to the communities it would serve.

Northcrest Developments, who is leading the transformation of the 370-acre site, approached Pentagram, who had initially worked with Northcrest on id8 Downsview, a multi-year public consultation process. The conversations had surfaced competing needs: Residents wanted bold vision and neighborhood warmth. Future tenants wanted an iconic destination and local authenticity. Capital partners wanted confidence in the ambition.

The challenge was finding a strategic frame that could hold all of these tensions without settling for compromise. The positioning that emerged—Humanizing a Place of Monumental Ambitions—became that frame.

The site’s aviation heritage provided the conceptual territory. The logotype for YZD draws its structure directly from runway geometry. The 54-degree angle visible in the letter Z comes from the actual runway that bisects the site. That angle became a foundational device, threading through layout, motion, iconography, and environmental graphics.

The system was designed to work at extremes: enormous environmental graphics visible from highways, intimate tenant signage, construction hoardings, development proposals, digital platforms, social media. As YZD grows and welcomes new communities, the identity maintains consistency without rigidity.

Pentagram Partner will be a featured speaker at this year’s in Lisbon, Portugal, taking place November 10–13.

In her talk, Natasha will unpack the hidden mechanics of creativity in the age of black-box AI. As generative systems produce images, words, and worlds with no visible process, she asks: What happens to authorship when creation becomes untraceable? Drawing from design history and contemporary practice, she explores how opacity itself is reshaping our aesthetics, our tools, and our understanding of what it means to create.

and team have designed the new identity for, the science-based health and fitness app.

MacroFactor is built for people who want to get serious about their bodies—whether that means losing weight, gaining muscle, or simply building healthier habits. Developed by scientists, coaches, and engineers, the app turns adaptive algorithms into practical guidance, delivering precision that users can trust. Its proposition is simple and direct: knowledge creates clarity, and clarity creates progress. But clarity alone doesn’t make a brand. Numbers require narratives; data needs design.

The new identity frames science as both exacting and human. Inspired Science is less a slogan than a tension: rigorous and empathetic, motivating and methodical. This idea crystallizes in the mission Empower Every Body, turning evidence into possibility—making strength, confidence, and insight accessible to all. It expands into a vision: The whole MF World—a playful shorthand that signals both the scale of ambition and the community spirit at the heart of MacroFactor.

The design system is where precision and adaptability are brought to life. At its core is MacroSans, a custom variable typeface designed to embody the brand’s dual character: architectural in structure yet fluid in application.

Icons and illustrations are another essential layer of the identity. Food logging is the ritual heart of the product, and over 450 icons were redrawn not as embellishment but as instruments—visual units of measurement that make discipline legible and delightful. Alongside them, a suite of in-app illustrations marks moments of accomplishment.

The identity celebrates both sides of MacroFactor: the discipline of data and the joy of progress. It elevates the game of similar apps, raising expectations for how design can make science useful and inspiring.

Continuing their ongoing collaboration with, and team have designed a visual identity and custom typeface for the Storefront for Art and Architecture’s annual gala.

Each year, Storefront hosts its annual gala at an iconic architectural landmark in New York City. For 2025, the celebration took place at the Grand Central Oyster Bar and Restaurant, with honorees including architect, writer, and educator Keller Easterling; architect Toshiko Mori; and multidisciplinary artist Paul Pfeiffer. Opened in 1913, the Grand Central Oyster Bar is renowned for its vaulted, tiled ceilings and cavernous interior, nestled beneath the busy concourse of Grand Central Terminal.

Pentagram’s graphics reinterpret the civic design language of the early 20th century, drawing particular inspiration from New York’s role in the Works Progress Administration (WPA). The identity channels the graphic force of WPA posters––their compressed layouts, blocky rhythms, and typographic density. The designers researched vintage WPA posters—characterized by bold, utilitarian lettering influenced by Russian Constructivism—and developed a custom geometric condensed sans serif typeface with strong, simple forms and angled corners. The condensed proportions of the typeface stand in deliberate contrast to the extended lettering of Storefront’s institutional identity.

The type appears in a bright, celebratory pink and is paired with a red-and-white checkerboard motif taken from the tablecloths found in the restaurant. Guests took home matchbooks wrapped in the checkerboard pattern as a playful keepsake of the evening.

Pentagram has worked with Storefront since 2012, previously designing projects such as the identity for its 2023 gala, its 40th anniversary benefit and exhibition, its spring 2019 benefit and its spring 2017 benefit.

and team have designed the new identity for, the venture capital brand that is redefining what venture capital can be.

While groundbreaking technological advancements promise transformative change, the traditional VC model—driven by rapid growth and short-term gains—lacks the structural incentives to tackle the world’s most pressing and complex challenges. General Catalyst is reshaping this paradigm, moving beyond investments alone to actively partner with founders and industries, building interconnected ecosystems dedicated to solving systemic issues.

As they grew in influence, General Catalyst needed a brand identity that captured the uniqueness of their model. They turned to Pentagram for a strategic framework and visual system that would set them apart from other firms and inspire founders, investors, and industry leaders to join their mission. This transformative vision crystallized in the brand idea “Venture Beyond.”

Pentagram brought Venture Beyond to life with a unified identity system. At its core is a reimagined logo – based on an exponent – and custom typeface, Catalyst Sans, designed to combine dynamism and clarity. Collage elements blend the new and the timeless, reflecting General Catalyst’s collaborative and generative approach. These compositions support extensive articles, invitations, and thought-leadership content, creating a rich, editorialized look and feel.

The new identity was unveiled at a pivotal moment for General Catalyst, coinciding with the announcement of Fund XII, the firm’s largest capital raise yet, to drive transformative ventures in AI, healthcare, climate, and beyond.

Cha Cha Festival is an immersive celebration inspired by tea and its rituals, presented by Water Street Projects and timed to Lunar New Year 2025. and team designed a brand identity and promotional campaign for the free public event, drawing inspiration from vernacular graphics found in Asian culture.

In addition to being a martial arts legend, Bruce Lee was also a cha-cha dance champion and a lifelong tea lover. His trailblazing energy is the north star for the Festival, amplifying AAPI creatives through the lens of tea culture.

Five artists and designers were commissioned to reimagine a tea house in installations representing five culturally significant Asian teas: pu-erh, oolong, hojicha, chai, and lotus tea. The selected design teams include architects and, landscape artists, product designers, architect, and creative technologists and. The event also features food vendors, exhibits on traditional Chinese medicine, and a community mahjong table.

The Festival identity nods to the visual cacophony of signage found in the streets of Asian cities. The Pentagram team developed the social media campaign and designed banners, posters, stickers and signs for the tea pavilions and the Cha Cha Bodega, the Festival store. Logos for each of the tea houses appear in abstract frames that reference signs, combined with vintage illustrations. Typography is set in the high-impact Bandit by.
