Composting the experiences and lessons learned during the Dit Lichaam van Ons exhibition during and beyond Stripdagen Haarlem 2024, Nieuwe Vide and artist collective Dit Lichaam van Ons return to the collaboration with a new (re)generation of queer visual storytellers.
In 2024 Dit Lichaam van Ons published a manifesto for the future of Dutch comics: a future in which manifold expression, joy, and artistic experimentation play center stage and we acknowledge and embrace our past as a pulp medium rather than disown it for acceptance in the mainstream. An important aspect of this approach was also that it became more common to pay artists fairly for their contributions and professionalise the comics world.
Now, four members of the Dit Lichaam van Ons Collective (Abe Borst, Dido Drachman, Gus Møystad and Saint Theophanu) returned in a new collaborative cycle of the collective’s intention to inspire and grow the Dutch queer comics scene with a mentorship program titled “Our Ever-Expanding Body,” in which mentees are paired with mentors to develop a new exhibition and to develop themselves artistically and exchange ideas. During the final Open Draw of our Teken or Leave it events, before the Vide Summer Break, we will reflect together on Keti Koti. On July 1st, we commemorate the victims of slavery and simultaneously celebrate its abolition. Nieuwe Vide is closed during the day because this is, and should be, a recognized national holiday for everyone. Nevertheless, we find it important to be together on that day.
We therefore encourage you, during this open drawing evening, to take a moment with us to reflect on and celebrate what the emancipation of enslaved people (and their families) and oppressed people means – in relation to Keti Koti, but also beyond. Tea and coffee will be available. Materials and paper will be provided.

Tijdens de laatste Open Draw van Teken or Leave it, voor de Vide zomerstop, reflecteren we samen op Keti Koti. Op 1 juli herdenken we de slachtoffers van en vieren we tegelijkertijd de afschaffing van de slavernij. Nieuwe Vide is overdag gesloten, omdat dit een (h)erkende nationale feestdag is en zou moeten zijn. We vinden het wel belangrijk om samen te zijn deze dag.
We moedigen je daarom tijdens deze open teken avond aan om stil te staan bij én te vieren wat de emancipatie van (familie van) tot slaaf gemaakten en onderdrukte mensen betekent – in relatie tot Keti Koti, maar ook daarbuiten. Er zal thee en koffie zijn. Materiaal en papier zal aanwezig zijn.

Je werkt nauw samen met de directeur-curator, ondersteunt het team en denkt mee over de toekomst van Nieuwe Vide, inclusief onze verhuizing naar een nieuwe locatie in 2028.
Nieuwe Vide is een kunstpodium en broedplaats in Haarlem waar experiment en talentontwikkeling centraal staan. We bouwen daarmee voort op de activistische idealen en DIY-mentaliteit die aan de basis liggen van onze instelling. Dit doen we door middel van onze expositieruimte en activiteiten, waarin we nieuw (inter)nationaal talent de ruimte bieden om te experimenteren en zich verder te ontwikkelen. Daarnaast bieden we studioruimte aan meer dan 35 lokale kunstenaars en makers. Het is onze missie om in Haarlem een eigenwijze plek te bieden waar spannende, vernieuwende kunst een podium krijgt en waar volop geëxperimenteerd kan worden.

Een uitbundige viering van de strip als kunstvorm, waarin beeld, tekst, identiteit en verbeelding moeiteloos samenkomen. Dit lichaam van ons toont nieuw werk dat voortbouwt op de gelijknamige publicatie uit 2024, een ode aan queer vreugde binnen de stripkunst.
De tentoonstelling barst van de kleur, expressieve vormen en gelaagde beeldverhalen. In een speelse cadavre exquis vervagen grenzen en ontstaan verrassende verbindingen tussen de werken.
Met bijdragen van onder anderen Dido Drachman, Gus Møystad, Abe Borst, Saint Theophanu en Nino Bulling.

Composting the experiences and lessons learned during the Dit Lichaam van Ons exhibition during and beyond Stripdagen Haarlem 2024, Nieuwe Vide and Dit Lichaam van Ons return to the collaboration with a new (re)generation of queer visual storytellers.
Four members of the Dit Lichaam van Ons Collective (Abe Borst, Dido Drachman, Gus Møystad and Saint Theophanu) will return in a new collaborative cycle of the collective’s intention to inspire and grow the Dutch queer comics scene. After two years of composting, Dit Lichaam returns with a mentorship program titled “Our Ever-Expanding Body,” in which mentees are paired with mentors to collaborate on an exhibition. This is the starting point to create a network of makers that can support each other through artistic and professional development.
In 2026, Dit Lichaam van Ons returns with a renewed mission: building a sustainable network for young queer visual storytellers. Rooted in collectivity, artistic experimentation, and social justice, the project creates space for mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and collaborative exhibitions. Together, we imagine new futures for comics and visual storytelling grounded in community and radical imagination.
The work of Dit Lichaam van ons is also on view and for sale at
“Ons Steeds Groeiende Lichaam: Sappige kleuren, wulpse lijnen” from May 29. Nieuwe Vide also hosts a Zinefest with at De Koepel during 30/31st of May.

Met Animating the Future presenteren Nieuwe Vide en Patronaat een inspirerende animatie-expo van een nieuwe, opkomende generatie jonge makers. Deze getalenteerde creatievelingen brengen frisse energie en vernieuwend werk naar voren, en tonen aan dat de toekomst van animatie in goede handen is.
Ontmoet Danko, Feline, Tess, Ella, Levi, Cato en Rheia—een groep jonge makers die met hun kleurrijke en verrassende animaties verhalen tot leven brengen.
Danko (15) is een jong talent dat 2D-animaties maakt in de prachtigste kleuren. Feline van Strien, (18) en wordt student aan ArtEZ volgend jaar. Tess (19) aka TWartz beheerst zowel 2D als stopmotion-animatie, terwijl Cato (19) illustraties tot leven wekt op papier. Levi (18) creëert unieke vibes met zijn animaties, Rheia en Ella (18) maken van stopmotion-animatie een ware kunst. Het werk van deze groep is een viering van creativiteit en diversiteit.
Deze expositie is onderdeel van de samenwerking tussen Nieuwe Vide en Patronaat, waar jonge en/of queer makers ruimte krijgen om hun werk te tonen rond thema’s als nacht, experiment en diversiteit. De tentoonstelling is te zien van 22 mei tot en met 25 juni tijdens de openingstijden, clubnachten en concerten van Patronaat.
