Supplements are not automatically the answer! This is one of the biggest things I see missed with anxiety.

Someone is already wired, exhausted, under-slept, under-fed, inflamed, or running on stress hormones… and then they add 10 more things to the stack.

Sometimes the issue is not that you need more.
Sometimes your nervous system cannot tolerate what you’re already taking.
Hot take: some of the most repeated health advice online is either wildly oversimplified, outdated, or missing the entire conversation. I will never stop advocating against these myths!
Alright friends!! Time to make the day after suck a little less. Here is your quick Memorial Day recovery guide so you can get back to it, until the next holiday 🤪

Your coping mechanisms might be helping you survive the day… but does it really help if they are actively working against your health?

You don’t have to be perfect (none of us are!!), but being intentional about lowering inflammation, decreasing risk to endocrine disruptors and toxins, and managing stress on the body can all be so helpful for your future health.

Comment “GUIDE” and I’ll send you my favorite low tox swaps to help you unwind!
The side effect no one talks about with medical weight loss is how easy it is to feel dependent on it.

Not because the medication is “addictive” in the classic sense, but because it gives you less hunger, less food noise, faster weight loss, and more control around food.

But if you do not build the foundations while you’re on it, coming off can feel awful.

The conversation cannot just be, “Did you lose weight?”

It also needs to be:
Did you preserve muscle?
Eat enough protein?
Stabilize blood sugar?
Support your metabolism?
Build habits that still work when appetite comes back?
Have a plan for stopping?

The goal should never be needing it forever to feel in control.
The goal is using it as a tool while building a body that is more supported with or without it.
Low back pain isn’t always as straightforward as it just being a back problem. Often we have many factors contributing (that often go overlooked and untreated!)

So many symptoms people deal with every day aren’t random, even though they’re often treated that way. Things like reflux, anxiety that feels more chemical than emotional, brain fog after meals, muscle twitching, worsening PMS, or low libido get brushed off as stress, aging, or “just how your body is.” In reality, these are often signs the body is struggling to meet basic nutrient demands.

What makes this confusing is that nutrient issues don’t always show up where you expect, and labs can look “normal” long before levels are truly optimal. Symptoms tend to show up first. When you look at patterns across the gut, nervous system, hormones, and metabolism, those symptoms start to make a lot more sense!

This is not medical advice. This is educational only. Always talk with your healthcare provider before adding or changing any therapies.
We’ve been taught to fight our appetite.
But what if we worked with it instead?

GLP-1 is a natural hormone your body already makes that helps regulate appetite, blood sugar, and fullness. Medications like Ozempic work by amplifying this pathway, but food composition and order matter more than most people realize!

The order in which we eat is also so important -
Fiber/Veggies first.
Protein second.
Fats to slow things down.
Carbs last, and in the right form.

When meals are built with balance, digestion slows, blood sugar stays steadier, and cravings ease naturally. If weight loss has felt hard despite “doing everything right,” this is often the missing piece!
Not having enough stomach acid is one of the most common reasons people get acid reflux. When you add acid blockers on top of this, you find yourself never getting better and only making the situation worse!

When we don’t have enough stomach acid, it causes gas and bloating due to inability to break down food, pushing those food remnants back up = stomach acid.

The chemistry = baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) mixed with stomach acid (HCL) to make carbon dioxide (CO2) and cause a burp!

Over time this will lead to things like SIBO, imbalanced gut bacteria, chronic candida infections, B12, and iron deficiencies.

Symptoms of low stomach acid include:
- bloating/belching immediately after eating
- feeling unreasonably full after eating
- adult acne
- iron deficiency
- weak, peeling, cracking fingernails
- chronic intestinal infections
- acid reflux

Supplements I love to help with this:

✅ Betaine HCl with Pepsin – helps improve digestion & prevent food from fermenting in the stomach by restoring acid levels
✅ Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) – A natural way to increase stomach acid before meals (1 tbsp in water before eating).
✅ Digestive Enzymes – Helps break down food properly, reducing pressure on the stomach.
✅ DGL – Coats and soothes the esophagus and stomach lining, helping to heal irritation. Great for heartburn and gastritis.
✅ Aloe Vera Juice (inner leaf gel only) – Reduces irritation and supports gut healing. Take 1-2 oz before meals.
✅ Marshmallow Root & Slippery Elm – These mucilaginous herbs coat and protect the esophagus and stomach lining from acid damage.

Also consider other underlying causes like lifestyle (smoking, alcohol, stress), food intolerances, aging, & h pylori/SIBO/other gut issues

*always talk with your doctor before adding/changing meds or supplements
*do not stop your acid blockers before talking with your provider
*this test should not be used to diagnose a medical condition, but as an indicator for further investigation with your provider
*not appropriate for those who can’t burp, are pregnant, have heart failure, delayed gastric motility, kidney disease, or peptic ulcer disease
*this is not medical advice; this is educational only
