Araminda è un’insegnante di chitarra nella scuola primaria G.V.S. De Silva, nel quartiere di Kathaluwa. Oltre ad essere un ottimo maestro, tiene moltissimo a tutti i suoi allievi.
Le scuole in Sri Lanka non sono solo luoghi di insegnamento, ma veri e propri rifugi per i meno fortunati. Le insegnanti, quando decidono di intraprendere questa strada, rinunciano spesso alla loro vita privata e coniugale per dedicarsi completamente alla cura e all’educazione di queste piccole e fragili vite.
Molti bambini non hanno il materiale necessario per scrivere, disegnare o leggere. Alcuni non hanno nemmeno scarpe, grembiuli, abiti puliti, o un pasto per il pranzo o la merenda.
Lo sappiamo: non è la prima volta che si sente parlare di povertà, e probabilmente non sarà nemmeno l’ultima. Ma noi, ormai, ci siamo dentro fino al collo, e vogliamo fare un piccolo gesto per tutti quei bambini che meritano di studiare, di sentirsi importanti e protetti, anche solo per qualche ora al giorno.
Stiamo cercando di organizzare insieme ai nostri amici e famigliari, una spedizione di materiale scolastico destinato a tutti i bambini di questa scuola.
Siamo convinti che questo gesto sarà di grande aiuto per loro, nella speranza di poter contribuire almeno questa volta a fare qualcosa di buono per gli altri.
