📸🌎 Fotografo internazionale, si occupa di temi sociali, ambientali e umanitari, attivo nelle Americhe, in Africa e nel Mediterraneo orientale. Dal 2018 documenta i movimenti migratori attraverso il continente americano. Altri suoi lavori raccontano la desertificazione, lo sfruttamento del carbone, la mortalità infantile e la malnutrizione tra la popolazione indigena Wayuu della Guajira, in Colombia.
Nel 2024 l’UNHCR lo ha invitato a documentare la risposta di emergenza ai rifugiati sudanesi nel Ciad orientale. Da quel primo incarico, nuove commissioni gli hanno permesso di tornare più volte nella regione. Nel 2021 ha ricevuto lo W. Eugene Smith Memorial Grant for Humanistic Photography e nel 2024 il The Alexia.

One of the most serious incidents occurred in May 2025, when airstrikes struck the town of Old Fangak. The attack damaged the MSF hospital there and destroyed part of the surrounding infrastructure. The facility had served as the main referral hospital for a large rural area.
Security incidents have continued into 2026. In February, airstrikes struck near MSF’s hospital in Lankien shortly after staff evacuated the building following warnings of a possible attack on the town. A warehouse containing medical supplies was destroyed.
Only weeks later, violence again sent large numbers of wounded civilians toward the few hospitals still functioning in the region. Early on the morning of March 1, heavy clashes broke out in Abiemnhom town, in the northwestern part of the Ruweng Administrative Area. The fighting quickly produced dozens of casualties.

As the war in Sudan pushed deeper into Darfur and the Kordofan states, Abyei city became an improvised escape route. Every week, thousands arrived on foot: people fleeing bombed-out towns, mothers carrying children sick with malaria, men with shrapnel wounds that had gone untreated for days. Abyei’s clinics - never designed for mass displacement - became the last fragile line of humanitarian care before the border vanished behind them.
In South Sudan, over 80% of essential health services are run by NGOs, and many are now shutting down after massive cuts in aid to the international cooperation, leaving entire counties without functioning facilities and forcing patients to walk hours or days for care.
Further south, in Mayen Abun, displacement took a different form yet remained no less urgent. Here, it was South Sudan’s own long-running, often invisible conflicts - cattle raids, land disputes, intercommunal violence - that uprooted families again and again.
Patients arrive only when critically ill because there are no clinics left in their home areas, no medicines, and often no trained staff.
South Sudan’s crises are layered, contemporary, and largely underreported. MSF describes entire regions where the withdrawal of humanitarian support has left communities without vaccines, maternal care, emergency services, or even basic first aid. That void transforms local conflict, displacement, and seasonal disease into mass-casualty events.
People arrive exhausted at the border, children fight malaria and malnutrition, nurses and surgeons hold the line with what they have. Organizations are forced to scale back as needs rise. Healthcare is a scarcity, and survival depends on reaching the few functioning facilities still open.
