1. It wasn’t more volume. It was better execution.
I stopped wasting energy. My burpees got tighter, smoother, and more consistent. No extra movement, no standing up fully between reps.
2. I trained fatigue, not fresh reps.
Most people practice burpee broad jumps fresh. In races, you’re never fresh. I trained them after hard efforts - sleds, runs, ski, row - so my body learned to hold form under fatigue.
3. Breathing & rhythm were the game changer.
Once I locked in my breathing and rhythm, everything clicked. Exhale on the drop, controlled breath on the jump. I stopped redlining halfway through the station.
4. Conditioned the station, not just the movement.
This station is about engine + efficiency. I built aerobic capacity around high-rep burpees instead of treating them like a strength movement.
If burpee broad jumps blow up your race, stop doing more - start doing them smarter.
