If you want to reverse slice like Lee Chong Wei- then read below! (Note this is an advanced shot- so you’re expected to know the basics of the normal sliced drop)

1. With reverse slices- think of it as opening up your palm towards the court - this creates the “slice” effect- where you’re cutting across both the cork and feathers at the same time.

2. Ensure the preparation for the shot is exactly the same as if you were playing any other shot- this helps sell the shot and deceive your opponent.

3. The racket must follow through after you play the reverse slice to help control the shuttle- so that you don’t “hit” but instead “guide”.

Most players aren’t short on effort.
They’re short on understanding.

In 2026- we’ll still be sharing drills and training- but also delving deeper into proper decision making, structure and how matches are actually won.

A lot of players train well- but struggle to bring that same performance into matches. The translation from training to match play is where a lot of quality gets lost, and where potential improvement lies.

If you’ve seen this box before- you already know what you’re in for😵 (light training apparently)

On a serious note- multi feed is an essential part of badminton training. Period.

Technique? Great, you won’t need to move much and you can practice a shot 1000 times continuously.

Speed and explosiveness? Well... We’ve shown you in this video😅

Just know exactly what the aim of the session is and make it productive!

Badminton is all about spatial awareness - hitting the shuttle where your opponent isn’t.

Deception exploits that, making them think it’s going one way when it goes another - giving you control of the rally.

Lin Dan’s front-court hold and drive does exactly that. It’s flashy, yes - but it works because the opponent commits too early.

In 2026, we’ll explore more of these small but game changing details to help you improve- from decision making to positioning.

2025 was full of matches, coaching hours and lessons that only show up in training. One of the biggest ones?

Improvement isn’t just about doing more and putting in more hours, it’s about doing the right things and doing them consistently.

2026 will be about intentional training. Smarter training. Better decision making.

Depending on your positioning, you typically have 4 choices to attack on the forehand side- and choosing the correct one could be the difference between winning and losing a rally.

Your movement and shuttle position decides the power, recovery and pressure you should have - so even though it’s just one corner- knowing when and why to use each one is even more important.

Most players think a net chord means to go soft- or play a net shot- but that’s not necessarily true.

In comes… the net jab. Even if the shuttle doesn’t catch the net tape- the pace of shot is enough to put your opponent under pressure to defend. Add a net chord to it, and it gives you an even higher chance of winning the rally.

Probably twice as hard to execute over the normal sliced drop- the reverse slice can add that extra deceptive touch to your game. Pull it off well and score some easy points!

1. Use a forehand grip (Also known as the Basic or V Grip) and set up as if you’re hitting a normal shot so the opponent won’t know what you’re about to play.

2. Focus on just the technique to start- for right handers you’ll want to slice the shuttle from left to right- and right to left for left handers. Use the wrist and forearm rotation to generate the angle of the slice.

3. Follow through like normal! That means swinging your racket past your non-racket leg!

4. Ideally, the shuttle would land before the service line, and near the side tramlines. If the shuttle is going too far- try adding more slice to the shot!

Want to know more about these returns? Then read below!

1. Use these shots sparingly. As any shot, the more you use it, the less effective it will become as the opponent would get used to it.

2. For reference, these returns are specifically just for backhands, however utilises all 4 corners of the opponent’s court.

3. Just a brief summary of each shot, the first is the double action hold and net. (one of Anthony Ginting’s signature shots) The second is a doubles net, where you almost “cut” the shuttle in a downward motion. The last is the backhand topspin- where the racket swings one way but the shuttle goes another.

Hope you enjoyed our video! If you did- or you’d like to see a forehand serve return video, please leave a like, follow and don’t forget to share with a friend!🙂

Whilst the net tap isn’t wrong- knowing when to use the net tap/kill or brush will make a big difference and is key to winning points from the front court.

1. If the shuttle is high above the net, then definitely go for a kill as there is still plenty of space for the shuttle to go downwards, and you don’t risk hitting the net with the racket.

2. If the shuttle is quite close to the net (or the opponent has played a spinning net shot) then use the net brush instead. The racket doesn’t go downwards- instead it goes from side to side. However, the face of the racket is still facing downwards so the shuttle can follow a downward trajectory.

3. In this example- for the backhand brush- we move the racket from left to right. (right to left for left handers) This significantly reduces the chances of hitting the net with the racket while still playing an attacking shot.
