🐅 Here are some sneak peaks on what you can expect from our upcoming exhibition "The Great Filter" by Peter Mammes, opening tomorrow 9 May at 15:00.

For his art works, Peter incorporates drawing with wood or polyurethane rubber engraving techniques. The pattern language derives from organic sources: microscopic textures, animal structures, and natural forms reinterpreted into repeating motifs, oscillating between the biological and the artificial.

Can't wait to see you tomorrow!✨

Dates: 9–31 May 2026
Opening reception: 9 May 2026 | 15:00 - 19:00
Closing event: 29 May 2026 | 19:00 - 22:00
Venue: NGO DEI · Westeinde 25 · The Hague

🦍 We are waiting for you this Saturday at 15:00 for the opening reception of “The Great Filter” by artist Peter Mammes, at our gallery in The Hague!

Mammes takes us through a set of layered worlds, a series of narrative fragments, like artifacts that could outlast humanity itself and reflect the most raw and pure representation of the human race.

He pushes us to reflect and answer deeply human but unsettling questions:
What is our relationship with nature? What responsibility do we carry toward the beings we share this planet with? And what kind of future are we creating for the next generation?

See you at NGO DEI!

Dates: 9–31 May 2026
Opening reception: 9 May 2026 | 15:00 - 19:00
Closing event: 29 May 2026 | 19:00 - 22:00
Venue: NGO DEI · Westeinde 25 · The Hague
A massive thank you to everyone who joined us at NGO DEI for From Candles to Bricks. It was a privilege to witness the dialogue between Tsui Hon-Kwong and Kacey Wong—two voices that have weathered the storms of repression and exile to bring us their vital perspectives.

The path forward may be difficult, but as our speakers reminded us, the spirit of the movement remains unbroken.

🚏We’re thrilled to share our 2026 programme

This year moves through garments, drawings, performances, and installations that sit between vulnerability and resistance. Across it all, there’s a tension between the personal and the political: identity, memory, conflict, and the systems that quietly shape how we live.

Less about answers, more about holding the friction—between softness and structure, the individual and the collective, humour and weight.

🛸9 May, this Saturday meet in The Hague!

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 - South African Artist Peter Mammes‘s solo exhibition opening on 9 May 2026 at NGO DEI in The Hague. The exhibition takes its title from the scientific idea that intelligent civilizations may reach a critical threshold they fail to survive. The artist uses this concept as a lens through which to consider humanity’s position at a time of accelerating technological power, ecological instability, and renewed global conflict.

Becoming Siraya officially opened yesterday at the Wageningen Library (Bblthk) in the Netherlands!
In collaboration with the Tainan Siraya Culture Association, I hope to help visitors in the Netherlands understand the Dutch colonial history in Taiwan from the perspective of the Indigenous Siraya people. The exhibition also shows how this history is being used by contemporary Siraya people in language and cultural revitalization, and how it is closely connected to the movement for official recognition.
Here is the exhibition information:
Dates: May 1 – June 1 (during Bblthk opening hours)
Location: Stationsstraat 2, Wageningen, Netherlands
There will also be a special event on May 15 at 16:00, when the Onini Choir will come to Bblthk and let Dutch audiences hear the connection between history and the present. For most Dutch visitors, this will be their first step toward understanding Siraya culture and Taiwan’s diverse communities.
In addition to the performance at Bblthk, the Onini Choir will also perform in Delft, Utrecht, and Amsterdam 🤩
I would also like to give special thanks to:
⚡ The entire Tainan Siraya Culture Association, especially my main contact partner Uma Talavan, for trusting me and working with me to make this exhibition and performance project possible.
⚡ The Taipei Representative Office in the Netherlands and NGO DEI for supporting the production of the exhibition.
⚡ The Huygens Institute, which invited me as a guest researcher in the Globalise project and helped me access digitized historical materials from Dutch archives.
⚡ de bblthk, for providing the exhibition space for Becoming Siraya.

The exhibition Becoming Siraya and the visit of the Onini Choir to the Netherlands have fortunately received partial support from the Taipei Representative Office in the Netherlands, the Council of Indigenous Peoples, and NGO DEI. If you want to support us, pleases the link below:
