When I signed up 6 weeks ago I was still learning what recovery from Complex Lyme Disease was, I didn’t understand the path I was about to pursue, and I was hopeful I’d continue on an upward trend.
It’s been a 2 steps forward, 15,0000 steps backwards process. And right now honestly I’m in the hole. I won’t be racing tomorrow but I’m grateful that gave me the opportunity to race after 2 years of not finishing a race and for the for bringing me in to their beautiful community.
A little more patience and a lot more perseverance …
See you out there.

CIM’s results page is so cool!
Have fun!
1. Don’t try to sync your watch to the treadmill.
Treadmill distance & time is usually much more accurate than whatever your watch guesses indoors.
2. For easy runs:
Start your watch at the beginning, stop it at the end, and then manually edit the mileage in your training log to match the treadmill.
3. For workouts:
Use the lap or split button.
Press split when you start an interval and again when you finish it. This gives you a clean time data for each rep * even though the distance will be off * that way in your training log you and your coach can see the total time for the interval and understand that the distance is off.
Use the treadmill for accuracy. Use your watch for capturing heart rate and time. And don’t obsess over matching the two.
4. Depending on how you run you may need to start slower and work into it - I start WAY slower than I normally would outside but can get up to speed by the end.
5. Understand that the tread might not be calibrated 🤷🏽♀️
6. Do what you gotta do to get your runs in:)
I’ve been on antibiotics for 8 weeks. Three days after starting antibiotics for Bartonella, I finished my first workout in years. Two weeks after that, I had a decent workout. And now, five weeks later, I feel like a normal runner again.
Lyme is severely underdiagnosed on the West Coast. Had I been on the East Coast, it likely would’ve been the first thing a doctor checked. I asked all of my doctors for a test and none of them thought it was necessary. So I went to a Lyme specialist in NYC. Hearing my history and symptoms she interrupted me “this is hard to listen to. No one’s checked you for Lyme??”, she told me I was a classic Lyme patient, and likely a Bartonella patient, given the episodes of rage. She did extensive testing, but started treating me that day before the results came back.
Lyme isn’t curable but it’s manageable. I don’t feel like a victim of it nor am I scared of it holding me back in the future. I’m anything but angry. Knowledge is so powerful and I’m grateful for all of the silver linings.
If you have severe brain fog, high fatigue, insomnia, rage, depression, anxiety, tingling or burning sensations, large amounts of inflammation, food intolerance, shingles at a young age, recurring injuries, inexplicable stiffness, joint pain or swelling, air hunger, if you’re an athlete it might show up as feeling like there’s no oxygen in your muscles - symptoms that you know aren’t normal and you can’t find answers for, just get a *%^#@$ Lyme test. More on Lyme testing and why it’s complicated later.
It’s for runners who crave growth, grit, guidance, and are ready to get uncomfortable.
All levels welcome, but come ready to push yourself and surprise yourself.

Dear god hope it will look different than before.
I’ve never been more profoundly sad and I’ve never been more excited.
If you’re in the middle of your own breakdown, don’t rush through it. Rock bottom can be the foundation for your next level if you’re willing to start again, stronger and truer than before.
