All the great actors do this…

Throwback to the most joyful last year with when I was still playing with my beloved Harold buddies in. Although their “Admin Mommy” sadly had to cut the apron strings to make space for work stuffs…. I diiiiiid somehow manage to find the time to direct Joe’s show “The (Sort Of) History of Comedy”.

Was v honoured to be trusted with his piece, even though I spent two years mostly bullying him during our improv shows. Exhibit A.

So, if you’re freaks like us — willing to see a show at 11pm on a Thursday — please do check it out this March 12th at The Theatre Centre in the BMO Incubator space. 🤡

Very proud of him and his sketch troupe!

(I’ll pop the 🔗 for tix in my bio for a bit.)

If you travelled back in time and told this ten-year-old soft goth kid (who, for her birthday, made her friends improvise a home movie where she starred as an evil queen) that she’d get to play a witch and share a credit in an animated musical with a most iconic actress from two of her favourite films (“The Addam’s Family” & “The Witches”) she’d probably be like… “yeah, duh”. She honestly had an obnoxious level of confidence in her abilities as a singer/actor that only took 26 years to beat down. 😅 So, here’s looking at you, kid! I gotta borrow some of your audacity.

And thanks for the confidence boost and casting. 🎶 I don’t think they’re ready for this pappardelle. 🎶 Very excited for you all to see my wee part in “The Christmas Witch Trial of La Befana” sometime in the near future! 🍊

Also, shout out to Mama Vanlis for the makeshift “walk of fame”, papier-mâché Medieval hat, and handmade slate cake. No matter how poor we were, she always made sure we had a little magic. ✨

During a quiet moment of reflection last night, I found a journal entry from January 1st, two years ago — it was a wish for a mediocre year. I wrote that I just wanted to comfortably pay rent, get a little acting work, maybe take a small trip, create things that make people laugh, spend more time watching my friends’ kids grow up, and not fall into a pit of despair again.

That didn’t fully manifest for 2024… but it kinda did for 2025 and, for that, I am very grateful. Of course, there was no shortage of real losses and major heartbreaks too. (It’s the price of being human, after all.) But there were also quite a few modest wins and I’m hoping 2026 gets even better as I continue releasing, restructuring, recovering, and reigniting.

May your 2026 be decent too. Happy New Gregorian Calendar Year! ✨
“Gerald! Get in here! Every time I look in the mirror, I see a beautiful woman and it makes me sick. I’m so hot. It disgusts me!”

P.S. I love that my troupe mate made unauthorized merch for himself. 😅
Bonne weekend. Landscape edition.
Spent half this trip star-fished on a pal’s guest bed (because Covid recovery is a real pain for this recently anointed “spoony”) BUT I am still so glad I got in some chill quality time with a few Montréal beloveds — AND my “little” bruv who happened to be in town too! Wild to think the last time we galavanted around the city was when he was 13 and took the train all by himself to visit 19-year-old me. Once upon a time, I did a lot of growing up in the belle ville and it forever lives in mon coeur. 🫀 Anyway, I may not have someone I can look at the same way I look at bagels but I’m so so so grateful to have friends, family, and food that nourishes me. 🙏🏼
Swipe ➡️ for my own little personal “Now & Then” movie moment — it was too cute not to put on the main grid. (For those of you old enough for the reference, can you guess who’s the Roberta/Samantha mashup and who’s the Chrissy/Teeny?!)

When I was just shy of ten, my family moved to the burbs and I was plucked from my vibrant inner-city public school and dropped into what felt like a Stepfordian nightmare. Despite the bullying I endured until I escaped to a high school for the arts, this bubbly, strawberry-blonde neighbour girl helped me survive. She always stood up for this weirdo during some pretty rough years, and it’s something I’ve never forgotten even after we drifted and took separate paths.

On the surface, we couldn’t have been more different — and honestly, we still kinda are — but we’ve always been bonded by those early days of goofiness, creativity, being unabashedly ourselves, and our shared values of kindness, unconditional love, and inclusivity.

Who knew a queer witch and a radiant, living Barbie bride would still hold space for each other? Well! Here’s to never underestimating the power of women who refuse to let the patriarchy pit us against one another. And to the type of friendships that can pick up decades later, just like no time has passed. 💅🏼

(Also, I thrifted this dress for $5.99 at Value Village and didn’t realize it was from Shein until I got home, please don’t cancel meeeee Internet!!!)
Very happy with the only purchase I made at my first ren faire. And with the portrait I took of in his natural habitat which has officially elevated me to his favourite member. (Just don’t tell Luke.) Also, shout out to for making the best sammies and to all the nice new pals I made yesterday… even though I absolutely destroyed a toilet on our pit stop back to the city. Just the sprinkle of whimsy I needed! ✨
Opening for these sexy little 🐀 people with on Tuesday night at with a sexy little improv set! 🔗 You know where to find tickets.
