Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November to recall the end of World War I hostilities. To remember the victims of war, a Service for Remembrance Day was held at Defence Forces Cemetary at the graveside of some of the British servicemen who lost their lives during the World War I and when supporting Estonia’s fight for independence.

Last week, NATO Force Integration Unit Estonia conducted the tabletop exercise Steady Shepherd, which brought together allies to review logistic planning and identify potential bottlenecks in NATO and Estonian Defence Force processes.

Captain (Navy) Indrek Hanson, COM of NFIU EST, emphasized the importance of national capability, organization and detailed planning for the reception of incoming units.

“Bilateral cooperation with contributing nations is crucial – refining requirements, agreements, and coordination between responsible entities,” Hanson noted. “Maritime support also requires a renewed approach, especially with NATO’s new members, Sweden and Finland.”
Colonel Christian Reichert, Deputy Commander and Colonel Lucy Anderson branch head plans to Joint Logistics Support Group Brunssum (JLSGBS) will conduct a visit to the Baltic NFIU's to gain an understanding of ongoing challenges and tasks and provide a JLSGBS update on current developments. Yesterday they were in Estonia.

Wing Commander Mike Gallagher, Deputy Commander of the NFIU in Estonia participated at the Estonian Military Academy tactical conference in a panel session on the topic Geography: challenges and opportunities in Baltic environment.

Traditional tactical conference has this year the aim of discussing division’s tactical activities in an international environment as well as improving and deepening the participants’ knowledge of the tactics of land operations.

A delegation from the Finnish Parliament's National Defense Committee visited NFIU in Estonia to meet with the Commander of the Estonian Defense Forces Lieutenant General Andrus Merilo and the Deputy Commander of the NFIU in Estonia Wing Commander Mike Gallagher and get acquainted with Estonia and NATO's defense planning.

During their two-day visit to Estonia, a 10-member delegation of the Finnish Parliament's National Defense Committee also met Deputy Secretary General of the Estonian Ministry of Defense, and members of the Parliament’s Defense Committee, visited the drone training center in Nurmsi, and learned about the work of the Defense League.

The Royal Tank Regiment Battlegroup and Dakota Troop of 6 th Squadron 9th Cavalry Regiment are deployed to Estonia to participate in exercises and support NATO’s mission on the eastern flank.

NATO Force Integration Unit (NFIU) in Estonia conducted a Staff ride in southeastern Estonia where they became acquainted with innovation and development of the Defense Forces and Defense League units, as well as the developments in part of the Baltic Defense Line.

“The Autumn Staff ride was an excellent opportunity to integrate our new staff members into the existing team and to develop our understanding of every aspect of our wonderful host nation, Estonia!” said Wing Commander Mike Gallagher, Deputy Commander of the NFIU in Estonia.

Among other things, the NFIU members received an overview of the activities of the 2nd Infantry Brigade and the Border Guard related to the establishment of the Baltic Defence Line. They also visited the Tõikamäe radar station and the US contingent at the new Reedo military base.
