Join the WHAA as we continue our 4th Annual West Harlem Summer Jazz Festival for the opening evening of our Juneteenth events with an expansive celebration of “big band” jazz at the Jackie Robinson Park Bandshell. This program brings together two distinguished large ensembles shaped by the traditions of swing, soul, and Harlem jazz history: the Bethune Big Band, under the direction of bassist and composer Paul West, and the Dick Griffin Big Band, led by trombonist and composer Dick Griffin. Presented in collaboration with the National Jazz Museum in Harlem and the Jazz Foundation of America, the concert honors the vitality, lineage, and continuing evolution of the big band form.

Join Sebastian Natal & Orchestra for a presentation rooted in jazz tradition while drawing inspiration from Afro-Caribbean music, modern composition, and the diverse musical culture of New York City. Led by pianist, composer, and arranger Sebastian Natal, the orchestra brings together a collective of accomplished musicians to perform original works marked by rich harmonies, rhythmic energy, and adventurous improvisation.

Santiago y La Orquesta is a dynamic contemporary salsa ensemble led by Colombian vocalist, arranger, and musical director Santiago “Sachy” Moyano. Blending classic salsa, Afro-Colombian rhythms, and jazz-inflected arrangements, the group brings fresh energy to the orquesta tradition while honoring the roots of Afro-Latin music. Their music channels the spirit of golden-era salsa while embracing original compositions, improvisation, and contemporary influences.
With performances at festivals and venues across New York, Santiago y La Orquesta has earned recognition for celebrating rhythm, community, and cultural connection. Rooted in the Afro-Latin diaspora, the ensemble creates joyful, high-energy music that bridges tradition and innovation while keeping the enduring spirit of salsa alive.
The 4th Annual West Harlem SUMMER Jazz Festival 2026 are FREE live outdoor concerts presented by the West Harlem Arts Alliance in collaboration with NYC Parks, Harlem Late Night Jazz, The National Jazz Museum in Harlem, Taller Latino Americano, iamchelseaiam, and the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance.
