And this weekend, holding the mic at the 25th Hills Relay For Life 2026 was one of those moments I will not forget.
At Castle Hill Showground, more than 1,000 relayers, 109 teams, survivors, carers, families, students, volunteers, performers, sponsors and community legends came together for one reason: hope.
Hope for more birthdays.
Hope for more time.
Hope that one day, cancer no longer touches almost 1 in 2 Australians by the age of 85.
This year, the Hills community didnโt just meet the $300,000 fundraising targetโฆ they exceeded it. $301,755 raised (and counting!) for โs research, prevention and support services. Absolutely extraordinary.
I had the privilege of hosting the launch event earlier this year, then stepping in across the afternoon at Relay to introduce some brilliant local school bands, host and judge the annual Box Car Rally, bring on the Battle of the Bands, and introduce the incredible Crestwood High and concert bands before the Candlelight Hope Ceremony.
A heartfelt thank you to the Committee, especially Lisa Carruthers, Jenny Glover, Lynne Pike, Alison Harper, Bev Jordan, Katie, Myles and the entire volunteer team, for trusting me with even a small part of something this meaningful.
And to the amazing Angela Pikeโฆ after 18 years of hosting this event with so much heart, grace and commitment, thank you for everything you have given to Hills Relay. You may be handing up the mic, but there is no doubt your legacy will remain all over this event, and I look forward to seeing you again next year!
The committee and Angela have graciously invited me to take up the torch and the mic moving forward in 2027. The only answer was yes.
Cancer has touched my life, as it has touched so many of ours. So to be able to give my time to this cause, even in a small way, is humbling beyond words.

To be named WINNER of the Wedding Services category at the 2026 Australian Small Business is an honour Iโm still struggling to put into words.
Over the past week, Iโve received so many beautiful messages, kind words, and well-wishes, and I just want to say thank you. Truly. The love and support have meant more than I can express ๐
To be trusted by my couples to play such an important role in one of the biggest days of their lives is already something I never take lightly. To then be recognised on a national stage in this way is incredibly humbling.
When I started this business five years ago, I could never have imagined the journey it would take me on. To now add this honour to the 30+ local, regional, national, and international accolades Iโve been fortunate enough to receive along the way is something Iโm deeply grateful for.
But more than anything, this award is not a finish line.
It is a reminder.
A reminder of how much I love what I do.
A reminder of the responsibility that comes with it.
And a reminder to keep raising the bar.

Last week, I had the absolute privilege of working as Stage Manager for โs annual Raise the Curtain fundraiser - an extraordinary evening supporting student scholarships and productions at one of Australiaโs most iconic dramatic arts institutions.
And what a night it was.
The event raised more than half a million dollars, celebrated the next generation of artists, and brought some serious star power into the room, including, who yesโฆ had me a little star struck. No shame. ๐
One of the things I love most about this industry is getting to understand the whole event machine: not just what happens on the microphone, but what happens in the wings, on comms, on cue, under pressure, and behind the curtain before the magic reaches the room.
A huge congratulations to, who was an absolute masterclass to watch, from โKaren the stage managerโ to full diva reveal, all the way to a Celine Dion megamix finale. Brilliant, hilarious, electric.
Massive congratulations also to Creative Director Alexander and Designer Hailley Hunt for the world they created.
Alex, being unexpectedly folded into your creative direction on the night was such a welcome surprise, and honestly, a lot of fun. I never imagined my NIDA onstage debut would involve raising an applause sign onstage in front of Australiaโs theatre eliteโฆ but Iโll take it. ๐
Thank you, and, for continuing to welcome me back time and time again. Always a joy. Always a ride. Always looking forward to the next one.
And a massive shoutout to my student ASM dream team, Finn and Georgia, who absolutely smashed it learning the ropes of corporate-style stage management and were rocks on the night.

But honestly, it felt like much more than a ceremony.
It was the end of one journey, the beginning of 257 new Australian stories, and one of those rare rooms where you can actually feel pride, hope, family, culture, and community all at once.
As someone raised in Camden, NSW, it is always an immense honour to stand in front of our newest Australian citizens and help guide a moment that will stay with them and their families forever.
Australia is built on multiculturalism. And days like this remind you that citizenship is not just a certificate or a formal step.

Nurragingy Reserve turned it ON. The music, the families, the food, the sunshine, the dancing by the waterโฆ it was one of those afternoons where you look around and think, yep, this is exactly what community is meant to feel like.
