Sometimes beige and ivory colours in clothing are presented as a safe choice or a boring one, but I have come to appreciate it in corsetry so much more over the years. I see those colours being chosen very often and for many reasons. One of them is that it’s perhaps the most practical neutral option and a very good colour if you treat your corsets as underwear. Just because it’s ivory doesn’t mean it cannot be interesting or special 🌿

Underbust corsets such as “Caprice” are the easiest to add to any wardrobe, and depending on a fabric and lace you choose can become a basic staple piece or even a part of a costume.

Made to measure corsets, even simple ones will always have a superior fit and can help create a more hourglass shape, if that’s something you desire 🌾

A beautiful “Isabelle” for a lover of green!💚

We have added many new silks to our collection recently and for this piece we used a combination of two never used before green silk moirés. “Isabelle” is dual coloured by design, and we’re always open to your ideas and colour combinations. This corset is also quite special because of its multicoloured embroidery and laces that were carefully chosen to resemble a “set”, despite having different motifs.

All these details created the most harmonious design. In such cases details and decor is what makes a world of a difference.

In my mind, there are several artists who’s works I heavily associate with spring and summer. One of them is of course, Claude Monet. His paintings often featured nature, but he’s known to depict it in the most magical way.

A few years back, I found this gorgeous fabric that instantly reminded me of Monet. It is one of those timeless, nearly modern looking patterns that looks as romantic as it does fantastical✨
Very happy to see it getting a recognition it deserves!

Corset: Jolly

I truly love how every “Florence” we make is so unique and beautiful 🩵

Ever since we added different flossing (embroidery) options for our Victorian corsets, our clients have not once disappointed with their creative ideas and expressive choices.

Spring is finally here with its first blooms, fresh greenery and chirping of birds🌷

We are happy to welcome it back and celebrate with floral fabrics and beautiful colours. We expect to be making many more colourful pieces soon 🫶🏻

While we’re on the topic of “Florence”, I would love to share a little compilation of several corsets we made for our clients in similar shades of peach and blue. Although similar, each one has a unique personality.

The original “Florence” used this colour palette too and I guess many people share my love for it 🩵🩷

This antique Early Edwardian corset(ca.1900-1906) from was the initial inspiration behind my “Florence” model.

Everything from the colours to the tiny details charmed me. I was determined to revisit this design and try to recreate it more closely. So 2 years later, my sister-assistant and I created this one of a kind lavishly decorated corset from turquoise moire silk.

One unique and rather unexpected thing about this piece was that we prioritised colours and the general aesthetic, and the materials we chose were fully modern. All ribbons, lace and even embroidery floss are modern and this was an intentional change to create a very clean cohesive look across the whole piece. Choosing modern in this case made it possible to even make this corset in the first place, since many vintage or antique materials are simply not widely available or accessible.

I hope this project proves that it’s not about vintage vs modern, but about creating beautiful things and sharing them and passing the craft along. And it’s not a bad thing that this project is a product of its time.

In my eyes, using modern materials for quintessentially historical garments like corsets only makes them more special. They allow us to enjoy historical garments and connect with the past eras and people across the world 🫶🏻

What I love about “Grace” and similar models is that their shape allows the fabric to shine. The front panel of the corset is cut from one piece and it isn’t interrupted by eyelets or anything that can be a distraction from the fabric.

In this example, this 17-18th century style patterns is very clearly the star of the show and the blue trim frames it rather nicely creating and lively fresh look perfect for spring and summer.

I am always itching to work on a special challenging project and what can be more special than a maternity corset?

Corsets were essential undergarments for the 19th century women and being pregnant didn’t exempt women from wearing them. Moreover, it was long considered indecent and unacceptable for a lady to go without a corset(or earlier stays) and it was simply uncomfortable. Corsets primarily provide bust and back support and during pregnancy, support is definitely needed in more than one place.

We worked closely together with a client to create a custom piece that would be perfect to wear during any stage of pregnancy and also postpartum. With modern comfort in mind, but real Victorian examples as our main inspiration, we co-designed a custom underbust maternity corset.

Despite their appearance and popular inability to imagine corsets as anything but restrictive, maternity corsets are perfectly safe for either mother or child. Spiral metal boning and split metal busk are much bendier than they appear. They apply gentle pressure and help alleviate back pain and discomfort, similar to modern pregnancy belts or bands.

PS. in our studio photos we tried to imitate different stages of pregnancy to demonstrate the fit. Real client’s photos are included in the carousel.

I will revisit this topic again in a future reel 🫶🏻
