owner Steven Blakekly (who also owns burger stand ) describes the menu as modern American fusion — highlighting Hispanic, Middle Eastern and Southern flavors into classic American dishes.

Dining in the garden patio at is like stepping into another world. Pass through the wrought iron garden gates, stroll along a cobblestone path and you’re surrounded by ivy-covered buildings on all sides, beautiful plants and exotic flowers. I’ve visited in all seasons, and even at summer’s peak, the verdant garden feels like a lush retreat.
Vivilore isn’t new. It’s been serving modern American cuisine in Independence’s Englewood Arts District since 2012. (Just about 20 minutes from downtown Kansas City.) But I would say that it’s experiencing a renaissance under new ownership in 2024!
On this hosted visit, I dined on spinach salad, smoked salmon bruschetta, coconut shrimp, grilled salmon and bread pudding with homemade ice cream.
Every bite was delicious, but the salmon bruschetta and bread pudding really stood out to me! To drink, I enjoyed a cucumber refresher — a fresh summer martini with cucumber vodka, basil and simple syrup.
Vivilore also has many lovely interior dining rooms, a recently expanded event space and a cool mural (alongside event space) for all your arts district photo ops!
Have you visited Vivilore? It’s definitely worth another worth another trip to the garden patio this spring and summer! It’s the perfect spot for lunch with your ladies or a special date night.
