I’m only two years in, and one of the quickest realizations motherhood has handed me is just how much *stuff* collects in the tiniest cracks. Binkies, coloring book bindings, shoe soles, broken pencils, lost socks, forgotten spoons in backpack pockets. Toddlerhood is one giant, endless cat-and-mouse game of stuff.
But it’s this tiny stuff that brings me back down to earth. These books are where she learned her words. Her stained little clothes still hold the shape of her days. I think of all the baby things I already sold or donated without much thought, and now it’s these scraps and half-eaten Play-Doh moldings that make her childhood feel the most alive to me.
One day, all of this stuff will be gone. Maybe passed down to a future sibling, but otherwise broken, recycled, or given away. And 20 years from now, when she’s off living a life of her own, I want to remember all of this sticky, tiny, silly stuff… exactly as it was. ❤️🩹
