MY STAPLE WINTER COATS

Winter coats (and jackets) are my one serious addiction, but I feel it’s justified, since I spent at least fifty per cent of my time in a climate that demands one.

As such, I think coats should be one of the biggest things you invest in. It’s an easy way to transform an outfit or make an effortless statement. And in truth, it’s often the only item of clothing most people will see.

Ideally, I would buy a new coat once a year, but not all budgets stretches to that, and frankly, once you have a small repertoire (that could even just be two), all you need to do is rotate, to compliment whatever you’re wearing. If you choose wisely, you’ll be grateful in the coming years that you chose to invest.

My usual preference is 100% wool, or wool/cashmere mix for guaranteed warmth, so always read the fabric labels. There are some under the £500 mark, but quite honestly, you might be better off buying good quality preloved for a snip of the price.

These have been my staples over the last few years.

I’ve never been a vision board person. Too woo woo and not tangible enough for me to action.

The best type of goal setting in my experience, is SMART:

Specific
Measurable
Actionable
Relevant (to you or your goal) and
Time bound

Eg. To improve my fitness within the next three months, (which can be assessed by measuring my resting heart rate), I’ll walk for forty minutes six times a week. This can be my neighbourhood stroll, or factored into my daily commute.

Performed consistently over time, a little bit goes a long way.

Personally my New Year starts in March.

There are definitely periods in our lives where we will need to hit the gas, but after the exhaustion of December, January is not the one.

New Year’s resolutions, new habits, new routine, new year new you, you do you.
2025 in review. It’s been quite a year.

A huge thank you to all of you for being here.
Whether you’ve been here since day one or have just arrived, your support, encouragement and cheering me on keeps me going and makes jt so much easier to keep showing up, even on the days I don’t feel like it. One of the things I love about this platform, is the development of what really feels like a community. Every like, comment, save and share doesn’t go unnoticed and developing relationships I otherwise never would have encountered, has been magical. So much happens in those DMs!

2026, let’s make it happen.
A year in outfits.

Admittedly, it was hard to narrow it down just to twelve, but I tried!

CREATING YOUR OWN CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS

THIS WILL BE THE FOURTH CHRISTMAS SINCE WE BOUGHT THE HOUSE IN SPAIN and the third Christmas I’ll be spending here.

I can’t lie, I’ve loved growing up with the loud proud Prempeh Christmases, of fifteen strong. The voices, the laughter, presents overwhelming the tree and hoards of us shoved on the sofa for nine hours - such are the joys of having a large extended family.

My Christmases in Spain by contrast, are far smaller, modest affairs - quite simply because our extended family is far more scattered. With my parents moving to Ghana earlier this year, not being together (and celebrating in the extravagant way my mother loves to) still stings a little, but has put a lot into perspective.

These changes have created the freedom for us to create our own Christmas traditions. Preserving the things we’ve loved and discarding the things we don’t.

So yes to to pigs in blankets, no to turkey and Brussels sprouts, yes to sleeping as much as possible, no to overwhelming myself with hoards of cooking, yes to long walks and no to feeling pressured to find the perfect present, or worse yet, feeling compelled to hit the sales on Boxing Day (the latter doesn’t exist here). There’s something quite liberating in dismantling those familiar structures and whether intentional or not, in creating something new.

And with that, all that’s left is for me is to wish a wonderful Christmas to you and yours.

See you on the other side.
But it’s memories can be bottled to last a lifetime.

If you would have asked me five years ago whether I’d be a part-time content creator working with major and even luxury brands, I would have laughed. It’s been a long road to building my confidence to even feel comfortable in front of the camera, let alone posting my image publicly, but it goes to show what’s on the other side, if you’re bold enough to put yourself out there.

And frankly, it doesn’t just apply to content creation, but to so many other parts of life, including for many of us, our careers.

After all, there are people way less competent and experienced than you, asserting themselves for, and actually getting, the opportunities you so rightly deserve.

That enough motivation for you?

Huge shout out to for the inspiration on this post.

Five years ago today on the 1 May, I was admitted to practice as a lawyer, after a sixteen-year journey of trying, failing, giving up and trying again.

It’s been six years since I collapsed in tears into the office lift after being told yet again, for the second year running, that I wasn’t going to make VP at the investment bank I then worked for.

I couldn’t sink any lower and it was the final push that I needed to get qualified and get out. There was no Plan B, it had to work.

Months of applying to our Legal industry regulator, the SRA, having parts of my application rejected and trying again, really took it out it or me, but eventually it was worth it. The route I’ve taken qualifying was an unconventional one, but the normal routes to qualifying were constantly shut off to me. Hundreds of rejected applications, unsupportive managers and interviews that went nowhere was the story of my twenties and thirties. In the end, I had to forge my own path and make it work for me.

Five years later, I write this as Senior Counsel and my journey has inspired me to make it easier for those coming up behind me. It’s the reason I’m so active here and why this month, I’m having an event to not only celebrate this milestone, but to launch my free mentoring service for a limited number of candidates.

You have it in you to make it happen. For the life of me, please, please, please don’t ever give up on what you’re capable of achieving.
