Surrounded by lush landscapes and world-renowned vineyards in the heart of Burgundy you’ll find this gorgeous medieval abbey that was constructed in 1131 under the guidance of the Cîteaux monks. Right before the construction was completed, all the buildings were burned to the ground. The choice was made to move the abbey’s site down into the valley of the Ouche, to the place we today know as La Bussière. After several more fires and destructions in 16th century, finally the French Revolution divided the land and buildings amongst the locals.
Today the abbey is a high-standing luxury hotel and gourmet restaurant. The restaurant, 1131, is named after the year the abbey originally was constructed, and was awarded a Michelin star in 2007.
The hotel’s beautiful interior consists of antique furniture and silken fabrics which create an ambiance of subtle sophistication and pure elegance.
Last, but not least, the welcoming and friendly staff make sure your stay will be unforgettable.
This is not a sponsored post, but only a heartfelt recommendation if you’re looking for a special stay in the Burgundy region.
Some of the beautiful corners in wonderful Tourtour in the Var region. 💕
I’m wondering - how many of you have heard of this village?
A little collection of some of the lesser known villages in Provence that most definitely are worth a visit. Save and share with a friend who might be interested! 💗
📍Biot:
A small, picturesque medieval hilltop village located between Nice and Cannes. The village is known for its ceramics, pottery and glassblowing, and not to forget the Fernand Leger Museum. Stroll the charming cobblestone streets, visit galleries and art workshops, have a coffee at one of the restaurants and maybe finish the day with a few hours on the beach - which stretches all the way to Nice.
📍Grimaud:
Another stunning hilltop village, where every corner you turn seems to hide an even more beautiful view than the last. It’s been nicknamed ‘The flower village’, and once you arrive you immediately see why. Grimaud is one of the richest villages in France, mainly because the village houses are bought up by foreigners and restored to perfection.
📍Cogolin:
A charming, old village in the hills above Saint-Tropez, famous for the manufacturing of cork and pipes. The older part of the village is built on a small hill several kilometres back from the coast, whilst down by the sea there are two marine villages - Port Cogolin and Marines de Cogolin. Here you’ll also find beautiful beaches, restaurants and boutiques.
📍Goult:
The Luberon’s hidden gem! The quiet village of Goult doesn’t get a lot of attention like the more famous and bustling villages such as Gordes and Roussillon. The stunningly beautiful narrow streets and the pleasant atmosphere, which you even in the peak season might be lucky enough to have all to yourself, makes Goult a favorite among the Luberon villages.
📍Tourtour
Tourtour (Towertower translated into English)is known as the ‘Village in the sky’, located at the top of the Beau Soleil hill in the Haut Var department. It’s a peaceful and quiet village and it seems as if time has stood still there. The narrow streets take you on a historical and beautiful stroll, and you’ll find galleries, shops and restaurants on the little center square.

These are my top 5 favorites in Provence when it comes to location:
📍Restaurant Omma, Roussillon - A Michelin guide restaurant located right on the amazing ochre deposits in the vibrantly colored village of Roussillon. From the terrace you have a fantastic view over the valley and the landscape of ochre earth.
📍Le Plongeoir, Nice - Located on the edge of a rock this restaurant truly has the most breathtaking location. Dining on the rock whilst watching the sunset is just pure magic!
📍La Table de La Bastide, Gordes - Probably the best view AND the best food! The restaurant and its amazing view is also featured in the last season of Emily in Paris.
📍Café de France, Lacoste - Sitting on the terrace overlooking the panoramic view to the Luberon valley gives you a piece of heaven on earth!
📍Un Jardin sur le toit, Saignon - The atmosphere at this rooftop restaurant is a must experience kind of thing. Combined with excellent food it will be a day to remember for the rest of your life!
Does the location of a restaurant matter to you?
Oh, we are dreaming for sure, we left our hearts here in Uzès the very first time we visited, and who knows… maybe this will be our second home in the future…? Because dreams are made to come true, right? 🥰🥰
We stayed at the adorable, a guesthouse located right on the harbor, built in 1770 and considered the oldest remaining house in the town. The atmosphere in the guesthouse is simply unique and just need to be experienced! The sweet hostess served us the most delicious breakfast, everything of course homemade! 🥰
Make sure to save this post and share with someone you think would love to visit such a gem of a place!

During our road trip in Norway we had the privilege to visit the most charming, little hotel there is - Eggedal Borgerstue in Eggedal. I was lucky enough to win a competition on Instagram hosted by and on Christmas Eve last year, and the prize was a stay for 2 persons at Eggedal Borgerstue. Lucky me - I never win ANYTHING!! 🤗
As Eggedal is quite far from where we live we chose to do the stay this summer as we already had a road trip planned. Eggedal Borgerstue is located in Eggedal, about 2 hours drive from Oslo, in the most idyllic surroundings. The house itself is more than 100 years old and was originally a shuttle station. The hotel has been run by the same family in more than 50 years.
After a bubbly welcome we were served the most delicious dinner, venison stew and caramel pudding for dessert, everything homemade with love based on traditional recipes and oh so heavenly tasty!! 😋
They also have a cute, little shop filled with beautiful home decoration items, and there’s even an antique/vintage shop in the attic - so surprising! 😍
Less then 5 minutes drive from the hotel is the home of the famous painter and author Christian Skredsvig located, and we had a very interesting guided tour in the house that now is a museum. They also have a little French inspired café there and of course we had to taste the macarons. 😋
I can only genuinely and highly recommend a visit to charming They are open through the whole year and is very close to Norefjell, a very popular winter destination in Norway. ⛷️ Last, but not least - they have the sweetest staff ever!
Thank you so much for having us! 🥰
