In this podcast with Joe (Link in Bio): Joe takes us back to the moment he woke up from that coma and the first thing he asked about was his rims. We talk about how humor became a survival tool, what it actually felt like to hear his diagnosis at 5am through a haze of painkillers, and how he’s built a full life — traveling the world, chasing good food, and showing up every single day with two mental mottos that say everything about who he is.

I was so scared to show my sweet Josephine when she was born because she had a craniofacial difference. It was scary to think she looked “different” because I didn’t see her anything other than my beautiful baby.
When we found a year ago, it felt like a homecoming. We finally saw an organization that fit us in ways we’ve never imagined. People from all walks of life who were thriving with a facial difference.
We got to spend the weekend with Bill from myFace and show him and his family all around our city. Our kids got along, everyone had a great time bonding and laughing, and they fought over who got to ride on “Mr. Bill’s” shoulders 😂😂
I’ll have to tell the story one day of how we found myFace, but I can tell this is going to be a great friendship!
Follow along as we travel to NYC next week to attend the myFace gala! If you or someone you know has a facial difference, please connect with the myFace account!
You might recognize Samara from last year’s myFace is Beautiful campaign, but beyond that, she’s a kid who loves roller skating, reading, making jokes, and soaking up every moment of being a kid.
Because beyond our differences, we all have the little things that make us who we are 💙

I spent more time on this painting than almost anything in my portfolio. I kept adding details. Eyes. Flowers. Tiny pieces of identity woven throughout her.
Maybe that’s because facial differences have always been part of my own story, too.
