One rescue responded saying they had the perfect fit. That’s how we found Ricky! He is just over a year old and was brought up to Montana from Texas during the July 2025 floods, to make room in their shelters for displaced animals. He has been a wonderful addition to our family and we all love him (except Jake, Jake tolerates him 😅).
Jake isn’t a new face here, he just turned 7 last month and is the typical sweet, snuggle-seeking, love of a lab. He’s also one hell of a bird dog. He spends most of his days cleaning up dropped food and helping us keep an eye on his two little humans 🖤.
Wow, I cannot believe it’s been three years since I’ve last posted. For those that have stuck around on purpose, or those that just never unfollowed us, thank you for staying. As Murray has gotten older, I’ve felt drawn to take more photos, post more here, and just cherish the time we have left together. So I’ll do my best to do that!
An update on our life! Murray is now 9, Jake just turned 7. They’ve got two human siblings at home now and we’ve also added two cats to the house. We also have approximately 20 chickens causing chaos throughout the property. Murray has definitely started to slow down in the last year. Running isn’t much in the cards for him anymore but he still lives for a game of fetch or a good hike. We’re lucky that he’s continuing to thrive as he gets in to his old age and would love to start sharing more of him again. Thanks for being here ❤️.
If you’ve been around a while, you know how frisbee-obsessed Murray was and what it’s done to his canines. Two root canals later, and switching to balls only for fetch, and we have a happy healthy boy ❤️

A lot has changed in the last couple of years. Priorities, free time, family, finances - but that’s okay, because Murray and Jake have been through it all right along side us. They’ve settled in to their new normal just as we have in to ours. There may be less adventure posts and more in-home posts but I hope you’ll follow along as well and enjoy some different Murray content going forward ❤️

Just wanted to provide a little life update. We had another baby in August, so life has been a little hectic with a 2.5 year old and newborn but we’re soaking up every minute ❤️.
Animal-wise, Murray and Jake are doing great and we’re getting out hiking every chance we get (which unfortunately is only about once a week right now). We sold our goats, and a coyote took out 8 of our 11 chickens a few weeks ago. So we’re down to two dogs and 3 chickens 💔. I’ve been tempted to adopt a kitten lately - somebody talk me out of it, it’s the last thing we need 🙃.
I’ve got lots of photos stored in my phone for you guys - now to make sure I edit and post them!

This winter has been a LONNNNNG one here in Montana. We’ve had snow on the ground since October. I’m very much over it and ready for spring, but this morning was absolutely beautiful. Everything was covered with frost, including Murray and I at the end. I love mornings like this.
