What we did: Total redesign, new layout and removed a wall to expand the bathroom. Full wet room with bench, niche, rain shower, soaker tub, double vanity, water closet and built in storage.
The home turns 99 years old this year, so we updated the plumbing, electrical, and structural while we had it demolished. We added insulation and interior vapour barrier to the exterior wall and replaced the drafty old window with a new thermally efficient model with permanent frosting for privacy. All the functionality of a modern bathroom while restoring some of the former charm.

It's always been a contentious debate between plumbers and tile setters. When in doubt, use foam!
No matter the results, we recommend following the manufacturer guidelines to a T. Not only will this ensure the longest lasting install, but it conserves the manufacturer warranty in the rare case you'd ever need it.
