In 2016, I was already 6 years into content creation. I was still dabbling in crafts and DIY but my love of travel was sprinkled through. It was around this time that people started asking me to write more about traveling with teens since we had a house full of them and we were starting to travel to more places.

I met Joanne Gaines’ mom and traveled to Texas to help my son get settled. Even though I got told several times that year I looked a little like Jojo, her mom didn’t even confuse us a little!
We were also adjusting to life as a family of 4 at home, and modeled for a campaign for WigWam socks with the incredible photographer
We still had our sweet golden retriever Sophie, who was the best doggo!
I can’t believe how much can change in 10 years! My kids are all grown and we have an empty nest, but so much has still stayed the same, and I’m grateful for this little space on the internet where I’ve been showing up for more than 16 years!
I’m not sure what the next 10 years will bring, but I’m here for it!

Drive down to the Gig Harbor waterfront
🪺make a stop into. They have lots of goodies inside and even host a monthly book club. You can also find my favorite sweatshirts from inside. They often hold popups so you can create your own custom sweatshirts too!

Don’t miss walking down the dock on the waterfront to enjoy the Harbor and watch for sea life!
On your way back into town, park at the shops

I’ve been wanting to take a factory tour at for years. It’s such a fun activity if you LOVE chocolate like I do!
Some things to know:
🍫Tours run Monday-Saturday at 10, 12 and 2 and reservations are strongly recommended
🍫if you actually want to see production happening in the factory, visit Monday-Thursday for your best chance to see the magic happening!
🍫tickets are $15 adults, $12 for kids, kids age 6 and up are allowed to visit
🍫you get to try a LOT of chocolate so be prepared!
This would make a good date or family activity and it’s perfect if you’re visiting since it’s only about a 10 minute drive from.

I did a lot of reclaiming my identity and learning who I really am. It was a year of a lot of growth and a lot of pushing back.
I traveled a lot (more than 50,000 miles in airplanes this year!) and slept in a lot of beds that weren’t my own. I took several solo trips out of the country and spent a lot of time alone just figuring out who I am.
I had a lot of anxiety this year, but I felt a lot of joy. I also had a lot of pain and sadness and loss, but I also found a lot of fulfillment and healing and laughter. Life is like that sometimes I guess. There’s still a lot of uncertainty, but there’s also a whole lot to look forward to.

We set up 4 challenge games. Some were easier than others and I used (free) tear across envelopes (thank you USPS) with route info, detours and road blocks. I found editable images using a google search so we could create our own challenges at home.
It was a fun way to be able to give each of our young adult kids a little money. What better way than with a little Christmas morning competition with a show we watched for years as a family.

We often drink water at meals and the wait staff will happily oblige with “fancy” water or water bottles. But simply asking for a “carafe d’eau, s’il vous plaît“ will get you a glass carafe filled with cold water that won’t cost you anything! I found that you have to specifically ask for it in French and they will oblige. I didn’t have a lot of luck simply asking for a glass of water. Learning a little French goes a long way, especially in Paris!
