Junior Leticia Detrow continues to make history in the 3200m run.
At the Rt. 16 Last Chance Invite on May 4, Leticia lowered her own program record with a time of 11:58.62 (FAT), becoming the first female athlete from a deaf school to break the 12-minute barrier in the event. Her performance also makes her just the third Deaf female prep athlete overall to run under 12 minutes in the 3200m, joining two other Deaf athletes who competed at mainstream high schools.
Earlier this season, Leticia set the previous record of 12:00.3 at the Berg/Seeger Classic in Riverside, Calif., on April 11, improving upon her 2025 program record of 12:06.69.

Tonight, Varsity Boys Volleyball is back home for a 7:00 PM match against Covenant Life School. We will recognize our seniors before the match.

Tonight we recognize our boys’ volleyball seniors. In their second season with the program, they embraced the opportunity to learn a new sport and represented MSD with pride. We appreciate the role they played in supporting the program and contributing to its growth this year.
Senior recognition will take place before the match this evening. We will be recognizing Donovan Chmaj and Mark Gwynn III.
The sun is out and it’s a full afternoon of action across our programs.
At 3:00 p.m., middle school track & field gets things started at home with the MSD Invitational #2 on Frederick campus.
At 4:00 p.m., varsity softball is away at McLean School.
Then at 6:00 p.m., varsity boys’ volleyball takes the court at home against Washington International School.

At 4:00 p.m., our Columbia campus team hosts Kendall Demonstration Elementary School in the Denton Gym, while our Frederick campus team takes the court for an intrasquad matchup at the Kent-McCanner Gym.
Varsity boys’ volleyball hits the road for a 5:00 p.m. match at Washington Latin Public Charter Schools.

Special Olympics Unified Track & Field will compete this afternoon at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School in the District Unified Tournament, with the first event beginning at 1:00 p.m.
On the middle school side, the Frederick campus middle school boys’ volleyball team will host the Columbia campus at 4:00 p.m. in the Kent-McCanner Gym. This friendly matchup brings both campuses together as the middle school boys’ volleyball season continues.
