We are so excited to announce Japanese Calligraphy + Personal Memory workshop with Maki Shimano from
This workshop offers a gentle and inspiring introduction to Japanese calligraphy, designed especially for international participants and beginners.
You'll start by learning the basics of traditional brush and ink work — how to hold the brush, control pressure, and create expressive strokes. After a short demonstration, you'll choose a character or word that carries personal meaning: hope, family, journey, light, dream, or even your own name written in kanji or roman letters.
From there, you'll create your own calligraphy artwork, guided step by step through the process.
All workshop reservations require a valid Stationery Fest marketplace ticket for entry (does not need to be same-day).

2026.4.1 毎年恒例の周年POSTをしたかったのに、今年は身の回り（子どもたち）の環境の変化が大きかったのと相変わらずの要領の悪さでバタバタしすぎてできなかった…🫠
桜を散らす春の嵐とともにやっと一瞬落ち着いた我が身🫶🏻
今年に入ってからも様々な経験をさせてもらいました！
二つとして同じものはない大事な経験ばかり。
色々な仕事をしながら、何がそんなに楽しいのかと...何がエネルギー源なのかと考えていたところ、「書く」という底なしの好きは置いといたとして、結局「人」ひとりずつとの対話であり、心を通わす上でできるサービスなんだと思ったり。
そんなことを私がする必要などないケースもあるけれど、その後のそれぞれの晴れやかで嬉しそうに購入した商品や私の書いたものを愛でてくださる表情は、時間が経っても色褪せないものがある。
手で一から生み出すことだから時間はかかるけど、究極のパーソナライズだなって。

話は変わり、今年の私のテーマは音と線。
これも不思議な導きを感じている…
確実にこの先も沢山の壁を乗り越えなければならなそうだけど、また新たな挑戦をしながら、地に足つけてしっかりと歩んでいきたいと思うのでご指導ください♩

It’s been a little while, but I’m beyond thrilled to share some special news. My work "En to En" has been selected and featured in the Letter Arts Review Annual Juried Issue.
"En to En" is a piece inspired by the wordplay between the Japanese words "En" (meaning both "Circle" and "Fate/Connection"). This is one of the precious projects I worked on alongside,, and as part of The Art of Letters "SYMBIOSIS IV."
This achievement is a huge step forward and has truly inspired me to create even more this year. I will keep striving to improve my craft. A heartfelt thank you to editor Christopher and also to Greg for the kind and smooth communication throughout the process.

この度、1982年から続くアメリカの季刊誌Letter Arts ReviewのAnnual Juried Issueに、私の作品「En to En」が入選・掲載されました😭✨
「En to En」は「縁」と「円」をかけた作品です。
The Art of Lettersのプロジェクト、SYMBIOSIS ⅣにおいてAndrea、Irène、Annabelと共に取り組んできた、私にとって大切な作品のひとつです。
今回の入選は、今年も沢山学んでいいものを作りたい！と心から思える大きな一歩になりました♩これからも精進します！

After an initial setback due to my busy schedule, I have spent the past year fully immersing myself in the art of bookbinding. Despite the pressures of parenting and preparing for a solo exhibition, completing a challenging workshop in Nagano helped me find deep fulfillment in hand-binding. This journey has transformed my creative perspective, becoming a lifelong passion as I approach my graduation exhibition.
2024年、 のSYMBIOSIS Ⅳメンターシッププログラムに参加したことをきっかけに、製本の知識も技術もまったくない自分が残念でならず、本づくり学校の基礎科に駆け込むも...他のことに追われすぎて全く学べず、皆と卒業できなかった私は翌年1年かけて通いました🥹
カリグラフィーとは全く違う製本の世界で出逢う人たち。
それぞれの目的で本づくりをする皆さんに刺激を受けながらここまでやってきました！
秋には合宿があって、皆で長野県の伊那に滞在🍃
個展の1週間前という痺れるスケジュール...
どうにかしていきたくて、往復500kmを超える運転だけど、下二人の子どもと母を乗せて（子守担当）美篶堂さん（ ）に行き、丸背上製本を初めてつくりました📚
皆と食事して別れた後に宿で別の筆耕を仕上げないと間に合わないくらいの有難い立て込みようだった昨年秋…（そう、この時、新しい本も作ってたのよ🤪）
それでもやっぱりFollow my passionで何とか全て乗り切って卒業制作までくることができた...笑
製本に足を踏み入れたことで幼少期の記憶が蘇ってきたり、並ぶ本は装丁が気になって次々収集してみたり、自分でもっと本を作ってみたいと思ったり、様々な心境の変化も。
手製本で本をつくるというのはこんなにも大変で楽しくて奥深いのかと...
何人もの先生にお世話になりましたが、まずは卒業展！
新たに続けたいことに出逢えて嬉しいです💕
さらに自分を追い込む形になってしまったんだが、平筆ローマンを26文字、自分の大切にしたい気持ち（フレーズ）とともに1冊にまとめました✍🏻
