Do yourself a favor and save this Disney resort if you like subtle Disney theming and want to avoid a crowded, overwhelming stay.

Disney’s Riviera Resort is calm, beautifully designed, and surprisingly peaceful compared to many other Disney resorts.

Why it works so well for little kids and tired parents:
• Smaller footprint = less walking
• Quieter pool areas and a gentle splash zone
• Easy Skyliner access for stroller-friendly transportation
• Less foot traffic than larger resorts
• Feels relaxed instead of chaotic

When you’re traveling with toddlers and kids, your resort isn’t just where you sleep.

It’s where your kids reset, nap, and calm down between park days.

Riviera makes Disney feel slower, smoother, and more enjoyable.

Unpopular opinion: Disney got better when I stopped trying to do everything.

As a mom, I finally realized that a “successful” Disney day isn’t about how many rides we squeezed in…
it’s about how calm everyone felt when we left the park.

I stopped chasing every reservation.
I stopped treating rest like wasted time.
I stopped comparing our trip to social media.

And you know what happened?
More smiles. Fewer meltdowns. Better memories.

Disney doesn’t have to be exhausting to be magical.
Sometimes the real magic is choosing peace over pressure.

One of the best decisions we made on our Disney Cruise had nothing to do with dining, excursions, or shows.

It was our stateroom location.

⭐️We booked on a middle deck, and it changed everything.

Instead of fighting elevator crowds all day, we could:
• Take the stairs up or down a couple flights of stairs instead of several flights by being in the middle
• Avoid long waits with tired kids or when we were in a hurry
• Move around the ship faster and calmer

When you’re on a cruise with children, convenience matters more than views or deck hype.
Middle floors give you flexibility, speed, and sanity.

It’s a small choice that makes a huge difference.

This is exactly the kind of detail a travel agent looks out for so your vacation feels easier from day one
The Fairmont Waterfront in Vancouver made traveling with kids feel easy.

Across from the cruise terminal, bags taken straight to the ship, food and essentials downstairs, and no car needed from the airport.

Calm start. Happy kids. Zero stress.
Exactly how a vacation should begin.

This is the most important photo I take every single Disney morning…
and it has nothing to do with memories.

Before we enter the parks, I take a quick picture of my child in their outfit for the day.
Why? Safety.

If a child ever gets separated, Cast Members will ask what they’re wearing.

Having a recent photo makes it easier to give an accurate description—quickly and calmly.

It takes 5 seconds.
I unfortunately know from experience and now I want to make sure you do the same.

Sometimes the best Disney hacks aren’t about rides…
they’re about preparation.

Unpopular Disney cruise opinion…
I avoid the buffet on embarkation day at all costs.

Yes, it’s included.
Yes, everyone goes there first.
And yes… it’s absolute chaos.

After travel day with kids, the last thing I want is crowded lines, no seating, and overstimulated little humans.

Instead, I choose:
✔️ Quick-service deck food (same great quality, way less stress)
✔️ Or a sit-down lunch in the dining room for a calmer start

The first day sets the tone for the whole cruise.
Starting slow > starting frazzled.

This is one of those Disney cruise tips most families only learn after their first sailing.

When you turn 40, something shifts.
You stop wanting louder… and start wanting better.

And suddenly, an Alaskan cruise just makes sense.

Glaciers instead of crowds.
Fresh air instead of long lines.
Moments that feel big and calm at the same time.

✨And here’s why Disney to Alaska just hits differently:
✔️ Broadway-level shows after adventure-filled days
✔️ Longer port stops/days than other cruise lines who also travel to Alaska
✔️ The best docking spot at each port
✔️ Character meets that you can’t get on the Caribbean cruises
✔️ Smaller Ships fewer people: In 2026 both the Wonder and the Magic will be sailing
✔️ A Glacier Day that will leave you breathless
✔️ Kids clubs so good your kids don’t want to leave
✔️ Thoughtfully paced port days (no rushing, no chaos)
✔️ Incredible service that makes the whole trip feel easy
✔️ Character magic without sacrificing nature or relaxation

It’s adventure for them.
Peace for you.
And memories that feel worth celebrating.

If the urge hits… trust it.

✨Disneyland in December trip recap with Tips!

Hotel - Disneyland Hotel - Villas
3 Day Park Hopper with Lightning Lane

Airport Transfer - Used Anaheim Town Car Services and had a great experience would highly recommend

Stroller Rental - used and also had a great experience and would recommend

Day 1: Evening flight ATX ✈️ Arrival John Wayne airport

Day 2: Disneyland + evening World of Color Dessert Party in DCA

We went back to hotel every day about 1pm for naps

Day 3 California Adventure purchased Single Pass for Radiator Springs - Met up with local friends and in the evening had the new Mickeys Christmas Carol feast dinner at the Grand Californian StoryTellers Cafe and it was FANTASTIC! Food was great and so was character interactions

Day 4 Disneyland start finish at DCA - lunch Dining Package for a Christmas Fantasy parade at Plaza Inn food was so good!

Tip - you still need too arrive about 45 min for the viewing area, we arrived 30 min before and it was full. I don’t always recommend the dining package for the parades

Day 4 - Late departure, breakfast at Goofy’s Kitchen and it was also great. Only issue it took FOREVER. Walked around downtown Disney before our car pick

Tips:
✨If you can rope drop do it and focus on non-lightning lane rides.
✨ Park Hopper was nice for flexibility and it is SO easy compared to WDW
✨Plan a Character meal, they are easy to get to and the food is much better than WDW character meals
✨ Mobile order your food early before your meal and eat at non- dining times ie. 12pm
✨ Flying into John Wayne was 100% worth the extra cost. It took 20min to get to/from hotel and the airport is small making it very easy to navigate
✨ World of Color Dessert Party was absolutely worth it. After a day of walking it was nice to have snacks and a seat with perfect viewing for World of Color.

Disney in 2026 isn’t about “hacking the system.”
It’s about designing a trip your family actually enjoys.

With more tech, more options, and more pressure to optimize every moment, here’s what truly matters now — and what doesn’t.

What actually matters in 2026
✔️ Where you stay, not just what park you visit — walkability, transportation, and easy exits matter
✔️ Understanding what the 4 parks offer and not skipping a park because Facebook or the internet say to
✔️ Multi Generational trips can be magical — extra hands for families with younger children
✔️Choosing ease over brag-worthy itineraries
✔️ Smart arrival days — travel day ≠ park day
✔️ Knowing what to skip — not every ride or event is worth your family’s energy
✔️ Planning intentional time to put the phone down and be present
✔️ Embracing travel agents + planning tools to cut through the chaos and bad information

What doesn’t matter like it used to
✖️ Beating every rope drop
✖️ Sourcing your vacation from only Facebook Groups
✖️ Chasing viral dining reservations
✖️ Buying every upgrade to feel “prepared”
✖️ Following someone else’s itinerary or touring plan
✖️ Comparing your trip to influencers
✖️ Proving Disney was “worth it”

The families who love their Disney trips in 2026 aren’t doing more.
They’re doing less — on purpose.

And that’s where real magic lives.
