MOTW Coffee is opening June 6 and it’s the kind of place that makes you want to stay awhile.
Located in Convoy this new spot features indoor and outdoor seating, unique flavors you won’t find everywhere, and a neighborhood-living-room vibe that’s perfect for catching up with friends, working, or winding down after dinner.
We tried their signature Yemeni chai, pistachio latte, and strawberry matcha, and I can already tell these are going to be fan favorites. Every flavor tasted fresh and intensional.
On the pastries side, come hungry, because they source some of the best pastries in the area, including hyperrealistic fruit cakes, halal options, authentic empandas and their Kunafa.. Just order it, order the Kunafa and thank me later. it’s like a cheesy, krispy delicious dessert, i don’t know how to explain it but it’s good.
To celebrate opening day, they’ll have $2 small drinks all day and free henna for guests. 👀

We got an early look inside MOTW Coffee & Pastries before their grand opening, and from the moment we walked in, the space felt warm, welcoming, and like the kind of place you’ll want to hang out in for hours.
We had the chance to try everything from their Pistachio Latte, Spanish Latte, Caramel Avalanche, and Mango Matcha to their all-halal empanadas, including the Picadillo Beef, Beef Bacon & Egg, and Argentinian Chicken.
🍰The dessert lineup was just as impressive, featuring Mosaic Cakes, a freshly made Kanafah with an incredible cheese pull, multiple varieties of baklava including their Bird’s Nest Baklava, Biscoff Tres Leches, Tiramisu Tres Leches, and their Dubai Cake.
What makes this spot even better is the inviting atmosphere and the fact that they’ll be open late 🌙, making it the perfect place for a cozy coffee run, a study session 📚, catching up with friends, or satisfying a dessert craving after dinner.
It’s the kind of café that makes you want to stay awhile, enjoy good company, and treat yourself to something sweet.

Located right by Convoy, officially opens June 6 10 am to 10pm (where you can get $2 small drinks all day long!) and this spot feels less like a coffee shop and more like a cozy neighborhood living room.
With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, lots of parking (such a relief in the convoy area tbh), and late-night hours (10PM/12AM on the weekends), it really sets itself apart. Whether you’re catching up with friends, working remotely (they had a ton of outlets in there), or satisfying a late-night caffeine craving, it’s definitely a good spot to be.
Their menu is packed with unique flavors, it was so hard to choose! We tried some of their best-selling drinks, including their authentic chai which has to be my favorite in San Diego, along with their creamy Strawberry Matcha, and decadent Caramel Avalanche latte. As a heads up, their drinks tend to be more dessert-forward, so if you don’t have as much of a sweet tooth as we do, just ask for 50% sweetness.
The food menu was equally impressive. The crispy, freshly made kunafa was our favorite bite of the night as it was perfectly crunchy and really fresh, while the halal empanadas were a close second (don’t skip the spinach one, and it’s really cool they have halal bacon!) For dessert, the mosaic cakes were rich and decadent, and the mango fruit mousse cake was an easy 10/10, although they had a ton of pistachio-forward bites we need to try next time.
If you’re searching for a new coffee shop in San Diego, a late-night cafe in Convoy, or a cozy spot to work, study, and hang out, MOTW is definitely worth checking out.
