dropped the 3rd fastest 18km run time in PTO/T100 history in Qatar 🔥
⏱️ 56:42 - 3:09/km
I started the season in January at Houston Half Marathon running 61:01 and finished the year in Qatar at the grand final t100 finishing 2nd.
I raced six WTCS races, five t100 races, the half, and jumped in a super tri race. I also probably raced close to 20 bike races.
I was very disappointed in Houston not breaking 61 but coming so close. Looking back the training was a bit off and I really think is by 60 is in the cards with proper preparation.
My Wtcs season was pretty bad with my best place being a 5th and finishing the series ranked 20th. I did have some bad luck / didn’t really set myself up to succeed in most the races so I can some what justify the poor results, but if I’m being honest 11th in the grand final was a bit frustrating- I think I was just getting used to a new training system and wasn’t ready? Also maybe went out to fast on the run and had some stomach problems
T100 went much better. My only goal was to improve every race which i did. In the end i finished 4th in the series, not bad for a guy with no bike sponsor and first year riding tt bike 😃
Supertri in Chicago was more for fun / tune up before bigger races in the fall. It was cool but I probably should have taken my feet out of my shoes going into transition.
Highlights of my season included getting a podium in the relay in Abu Dhabi with &, racing in San Francisco in front a bunch of family and friends, spending a week in Wisconsin at racing pro crits with coaching me, training with and for Houston, doing the t100 wtcs double in France and finishing the year super strong in Dubai and Qatar
Lows were breaking my wrist in February and being out for a long time, crashing in Czech Republic Wtcs, and
I’m not really sure what next year will hold and I need to make a plan, it could be more run race focus / marathon, all the wtcs, t100, 70.3 domestic circuit to try and get some easy wins, or even try to qualify for Kona. Looking forward to making a plan and executing similar to what I did the last part of the season

What made the day even more special was thinking about my family in USA watching me race and qualify for the team. My older brother Andrew passed away 10 weeks ago, and in the last lap of the run I was just thinking about the sliver of happiness I could hopefully bring to my family by qualifying. It has been hard on all of us.
I’ve been thinking about Andrew a ton this past week in Japan. It’s actually been one of the hardest weeks for me emotionally for some reason. But I know that Andrew was out there with me today - I felt him.
