Confidence on the bike doesn’t come easy for me - constantly fighting the internal dialogue that wants to say “it was luck”. Maybe it’s that if I don’t believe it can happen then I won’t have to be disappointed if it doesn’t… 🤷🏻♀️
So I want to say this with as much sincerity as an instagram post can possibly convey, but every single person that cheered my name from the sidelines on Sunday, told me I could do it before the race or wished me luck meant more than I can fully express. Every time I heard my name out on course it felt like, whether or not I fully believed in me in that moment, I knew that someone else did ❤️
Going into the race tried I to focus on just a few things and not the whole thing: first, I knew I could make the selection over the first climb, second, I could descend fast and last, that I’d stay on the pedals after the initial chaos - whatever the outscome was. And, wow, when it meant finding myself solo with and eventually, it felt like the puzzle 🧩 pieces came together. An alliance until the end, it was with 40 km to go that I watched Rosa push ahead up a climb and a new battle began 🧠 Because boy nothing feels longer than the last 40 km in a headwind while you’re both chasing and being chased.
But wow does that feeling sure make the relief of seeing the 2km to go sign, so much sweeter 🍭 because there are few people I’d rather finish 2nd to, but is one of them - not only a strong competitor, but also a very dear friend 🫶
Anyways, enough word vomit for now… just here to say that I’m out here riding my bike, finding my confidence, endlessly learning and working to make sure that with every race I can become, not only, a better bike racer, but also a better version of myself. And I’m so grateful to every single person that has been part of that journey this year ☺️

As I sit down to write this I find myself trying to figure out why I feel a bit uninspired to write a recap. Maybe it’s because on Saturday I witnessed my teammates & do something so FREAKING incredible 🤯 that finding the words for a top 10 finish feels a bit lack luster? Or maybe it’s that I still can’t help but feel a little nagging about what I could have done, if anything, to make split to keep fighting for 3-6th place? Or maybe it’s none of those things at all 🤷🏻♀️
As athletes we are constantly striving to be the best version of ourselves. There’s always an internal dialogue full of what ifs, how comes, why nots that seem in some way an essential part to growing and improving. You have to believe deep down that just maybe if you had tried something differently the outcome might have been better, right? Not in a terribly negative way, but merely letting yourself wonder. I think you have to believe fully in that space between where you are now and where you think you can be, because if not, then what’s the point really?
After a chaotic time on Divide Road, where I found myself launched from my bike with as we tried to avoid a crash, I learned that and had made a move. Textbook timing and smart positioning, so badass 🤩 Although a bit early, I knew immediately they weren’t coming back 💪🏻 I don’t think I’ll ever understand why it seemed no one else thought the same 🧐 So until they had a size-able gap (which didn’t take long…considering our pace) I sat and let the gap grow and followed anything that tried to get away.
The highlight of the day was when the Girona Squad,, and I, tried to get away together 👯♀️☺️. No one else seemed too inclined to make moves, and while they didn’t let us go far, eventually, one of our attempts thinned down the group to 8. It was then at 65 km to go when the final split happened and found myself hunting for a top 10 finish instead of 3-6th. Again, cue the “what ifs”…
Never in a million years did I think I’d be looking forward to next year, but boy how things change over 200 miles 🤣

The fine print - it was absolute chaos 😅 the conditions of the race today I think were beyond anyone’s wildest expectations. Think 7.5 hour cyclocross race… I’ll certainly give more of a recap when my the post-race fog lifts, but for now I have nothing expect gratitude.
To the people that believed in me 🌟 and the amazing support from and - I couldn’t do any of it without them and it means the world to me to be able to give back with a 🥇
