There is a price for paradise….🌴

We’re grateful to own a gorgeous home here in Costa Rica, but since we now live in Mallorca and haven’t been back here since 11 months, there is a lot of deep cleaning and fixing up to do. But and I are a great team and trying to find daily balance between work and fun stuff, like dinner with friends.

I’ve actually been to the beach only twice in 2 weeks 🤭

So we agree once more to simplify our lives and sell our property here. Then we can come on vacation whenever we want and stay in homes we don’t need to fix up first 😅

Just sharing this reality behind the scenes, because people often only see the glamorous side of living in Costa Rica and owning a house and yes, there is also a price for paradise.

How about you? Dreaming of owning a property somewhere tropical and living there part time or fully? I’d love to hear from you 💕

P.S. If you’re looking to buy a gorgeous and well maintained home like our in Costa Rica don’t hesitate to reach out 🫶🏼☺️

In 2025, I trained as a ProAge mentor with Elena Lustig.
Not because I want to “age gracefully” —
but because I want to age honestly.

ProAge is not a trend.
It’s a mindset.
Toward yourself. Toward life.

We are getting older.
And if we’re lucky, we may even grow old.
Why do we resist something so natural?

On the yoga mat, we practice this every day.
Meeting ourselves as we are.
Not younger. Not fixed. Not improved.

Aging can be powerful.
Aging can be creative.
Aging can be deeply inspiring.

Wrinkles are not flaws.
They are signs of a life lived, felt, and inhabited.

I don’t believe aging is something to fight.
I believe it’s something to soften into —
with more presence, more calm, and more truth.

If this resonates, I’d love to hear from you:
What does aging honestly mean to you right now?

🤍

#ProAge #AgingHonestly #YogaForLife
Being back here reminded me of something simple and true:
we’re not meant to do life alone.

There are moments when self-practice is enough.
And then there are moments when we need to be held in community.
Seen. Felt. Breathed through — together.

That’s why I keep coming back to shared practice.
Not to perform.
Not to fix anything.
But to remember who we are when we slow down side by side.

If your body is craving grounding, softness and presence,
you’re warmly invited to join me for Sacred Sunday —
a live practice on Zoom, this Sunday at 1pm EST / 7pm CET.
Replay available for 7 days.
You’ll find the link in my profile.

And if your heart is longing for more —
for warm sun, wild nature, deep connection and real space to recharge —
my Costa Rica retreats this February might be calling you.

• Jan 31 – Feb 6: Into The Wild (last room available)
• Feb 14 – 21: Spark Your Life – Montezuma

Sometimes one practice opens the door.
Sometimes a week in nature changes everything.

Listen to what your body is asking for right now.
And if it’s community, presence and a gentle return to yourself —
I’m here. 🤍

Different countries.
Different landscapes.
Different chapters of my life.

And still — every time I arrive somewhere new,
I’m not really arriving at a place.
I’m returning to myself.

Costa Rica taught me how to soften, trust life
and listen to my body.
Mallorca is teaching me how to ground, commit
and build something that lasts.

The outside keeps changing.
My surroundings change.
My rhythms change.

But the real journey has always been the same:
to come back — again and again —
to what feels true, honest and alive inside me.

That’s why retreats mean so much to me.
Not because of the destination,
but because they create space
for this inner return.

If you’ve been longing for that feeling, maybe you know what I mean.

Different countries.
Same inner return. 🤍
Here’s to the dreamers and pioneers 🫶🏼

I moved to Costa Rica from New York shortly after September 11th happened in 2001. I had just fallen in love with a Greek hotel owner in Montezuma, so I took another leap of faith: I moved back to the place that had already stolen my heart on my very first visit in 1991.

The hotel had a wooden pavilion that used to be a restaurant and was now standing empty. There was no yoga in town yet, and coming from NYC, where I practiced yoga five times a week, I had an idea: What if I brought yoga retreats here?

I asked my teacher, (slide 2) if she would consider hosting one. She said yes. When she arrived for the retreat she simply initiated me to start teaching: “I trust you”ll be an amazing teacher and will mentor you. Just do it”. I’ll be forever grateful for her push.

Not long after, Montezuma Yoga was born. One rainy night, I had a crystal-clear vision of my website. But I doubted myself, who was I to even have a website (back in 2004)? But my dear friends (slide 4) and, who had just started a web and graphic design business in our sleepy hippie town, encouraged me to go for it. Many years later, they told me back then they thought I was crazy, but since I was their first client, they just had to convince me. 😅

Sometimes you need people in your life to believe in you and support your vision, before you even trust yourself.

If anyone had told me 30 years ago that I’d become a yoga teacher and run a thriving yoga & retreat business in Costa Rica for 20 years, I would have laughed and called them completely nuts.

Life keeps offering invitations. When we stay open, and say yes to the people and opportunities that light us up, magic happens.

Who has been that person for you?
Maybe send them a thank-you note today, or tag them in the comments 🫶🏼 I’d love to hear your story.

Never stop dreaming.

Much love,
Dagmar

Today, I’m flying to Costa Rica.
Possibly for the last time.

And even though my mind understands it,
my body feels the weight — and the beauty — of this moment.

This place shaped me for 25 years.
It held my becoming, my healing, my wildness.
It gave me a life I once only dreamed of.

Leaving doesn’t mean it stopped being right.
It means I changed.

And change doesn’t always arrive with clarity or certainty.
Sometimes it comes quietly,
with mixed feelings, gratitude, grief, and a deep knowing you can’t ignore anymore.

I’m learning that honoring a chapter
also means being brave enough to close it with love.

If you’re standing at the edge of something right now,
I want to ask you, gently:

What chapter is softly asking to close in your life?

You don’t have to have the answer.
You don’t have to be ready.
Just noticing is enough.

If it feels right, share it in the comments.
You’re not alone in this.

🤍
Why soft women change everything.

Growing up in Germany, softness wasn’t really encouraged.
I rather learned to be strong instead. To hold it together. To push through.

And yes: that worked.
Until it didn’t.

The moment I moved to Los Angeles and started yoga, I learned to soften and everything changed.
Not overnight. Not dramatically.
But quietly. Deeply. Honestly.

Softening didn’t make me smaller.
It made me clearer.

I stopped forcing what wasn’t aligned.
I stopped staying where my body said no.
I stopped confusing strength with tension.

Soft women don’t need to dominate a room.
They change the energy of it.
They listen deeply.
They feel fully.
They choose truth over performance.

And that’s exactly why softness is so powerful.

In a world that rewards hardness, speed and control,
a woman who stays soft - without abandoning herself -
is a radical force.

If you’ve been feeling called to soften lately,
this is not you giving up.

It’s you remembering who you are.
How do you embrace your softness? Is it easy or challenging for you?

🤍
This Friday, I might be flying to Costa Rica for the last time.
And as you can imagine, I have very mixed feelings about it.

The jungle has been my home for 25 years.
It shaped me. Nourished me. I was truly living my dream, feeling light & free. Despite many challenges on the way, it was the perfect place at the perfect time. Shared with a loving expat community, also creating their dreams away from home. Imagine how powerful that is.

Even though I don’t live there anymore, the land and experience will always live in my body.

It feels like a chapter gently closing.
Not only with sadness, but with gratitude, reverence and a big smile in my heart.

That’s why I want to share something special with you now.

The Jungle Video Series is one of the last offerings born directly from my life in Costa Rica.
A practice you can return to whenever life feels loud, overwhelming or disconnected.

Inside, you’ll receive:
a 10-minute Jungle Meditation
a deeply relaxing Yin Yoga practice
an energizing Vinyasa flow
— guided by my voice, surrounded by jungle sounds.

If you can’t travel to Costa Rica,
bring the jungle into your living room.

Comment “JUNGLE”
and I’ll send you the free video series.

And if your heart feels called to experience Costa Rica in person: my two upcoming retreats there might be part of this closing chapter too.
A chance to gather, soften, and honor what’s been. Write to me to get more information about my Costa Rica Retreats in February.

Sometimes endings are not meant to be rushed.
They’re meant to be felt and celebrated.
Retreats 2026: you are invited 🤍

Retreats are my passion.
For over 15 years, I’ve been guiding women to some of the most beautiful places on this planet, spaces where you can soften, release what’s weighing you down, re-ignite your inner spark and feel deeply connected again.

What matters most to me is community.
Honest sharing. And creating experiences that support a life that feels authentic, alive and aligned.

In a world that constantly asks us to do more, have more, be more, I truly believe we don’t need more things.
We need more meaningful, nourishing experiences.

So let me take you into stunning nature.
Into spaciousness.
Into movement, breath and connection.
Into moments that stay with you long after you return home.

If you feel a gentle nudge while reading this, trust it.
Maybe one of these retreats will be the greatest gift you give yourself in 2026.

❤️ Each retreat restores some hope in us.

Hope - that humanity is not completely lost, and that true connection exist, when we intentionally open ourselves, and create a space where we are safe enough to be vulnerable and seen.

✨We don’t connect with each other deeply when we keep our masks on and pretend to have it all figured out.

We connect deeply when we share our ups and downs, our fears, insecurities, doubts, because this is what makes us human.

🫶🏼 And it feels good to be real. To be authentic, honest, soft. To connect.

This past retreat week was magical again, we moved together through some sadness and losses, and also laughed really hard. We danced, meditated into sunrise and swam in the nourishing sea.

☀️ When you welcome all of it, the pleasant and unpleasant, the light and the shadow, you feel so much relief and ease again.

So if you think yoga is all about the poses come on a retreat and experience all the other gifts of this practice.

🧘‍♀️ The success of your yoga doesn’t lie in the ability to perform asanas, but how it positively changes the way you live your life and your relationships.

Have you ever experienced a yoga retreat changing your life? Let me know in the comments 🙏🏻
