I love to surround myself with plants, they help me relax and I just love watching them growing, surprising me with new leaves, flowers... and sudden deaths 🙈😅
Some time ago I needed new pots and I saw a video of someone making it from jesmonite. It got stuck in my head and it took me some time to process the thought of starting with yet another medium, but I needed to do something exciting and learning new things is one of them. I painted pots with alcohol inks, I decoupaged them, I tried making one from polymer clay and now is the time to try jesmonite.
There's so much more to learn and so far I did terrazzo mostly, but I will be trying different designs as well cause I just need to try everything 🤯😅
I love the feeling of making art functional.
There are my first ones and I am so happy to see how they turned out.
I started with terrazzo style but I also want to try different pours in the future.
Yet another perfect excuse to fill the space with more plants! 🪴

Whether you would like an original planter, flower vase or trinket dish for your keys, rings etc., you can paint it yourself in few minutes.
You will need:
- a ceramic cup or mug
- some alcohol inks - one colour will suffice, especially if you use the brands like TH as they develop many undertones
- isopropyl alcohol
- acrylic spray varnish (it will be water resistant enough to plant in, wipe it with a damp cloth, however I don't recommend washing it under running water or in the dishwasher).
I use a a heat tool to dry them as I simply pour the inks and iso on the surface and let them do their thing.
But you do not really need it, you can use a brush to apply the inks, either splash them or paint anything you want.
And you know what's the best thing?
If you don't like it, you can always wipe it off and start again! No reason to be cautious then, just go for it 😉
Once you are happy with the design, apply few coats of varnish, leaving enough time between each to let the varnish dry.

It is one of them paintings which get labelled as not good enough and never see the daylight.
I was going through my art storage and I realized that I have a ton of work that needs to go. I don't have much space and I need to make room for new works so I will be doing a sale soon!

Mixing and pouring acrylics was the first thing I experimented with when I started scrolling through Instagram around three years ago. I could see fluid art videos everywhere and watching that paint flow was hypnotising. After a few tutorials I began pouring.
I remember we lived in a tiny flat so I was pouring on a coffee table in the living room, into a plastic bowl 😆
I had a lot of fun and just a few good pours, I quickly realised it looked so much easier than it actually was. There were probably more mishaps and tears over spilled paint but I was happy I gave it a go.
After all these years, I'm finally attempting a dirty pour again, using a completely different media. I'm rather pleased with the result! I need to sand these ones and then make some more!
And of course they had to be green! 😆

I couldn't wait for the weekend to start working on my new product - jesmonite coasters!
I made a video showing the stages of the process.
My favourite part is being able to mix my own colours and crushing halfway set jesmonite to make terrazzo chips 🤤
The coaster isn't finished yet, I still need to do more sanding etc but boy...I think I'm already addicted to this medium! 🤩

I wanted to add some contrast to this piece by intensifying it with that vivid pink. Sometimes I let myself go 😆
I'm undecided about which frame I like, silver frame for a piece with gold details, hmm...that wouldn't be my obvious choice, but surprisingly it does look good to me.
