๐ŸŒ Spotlight Saturday ๐Ÿ’š Meet our 2026 Young Ambassadors

Five young people. Five unique stories. One shared purpose: to help other families know they are not alone.

We are so proud to introduce Thea, 11, Gracie, 15, and Anna-Maria, 20 (pictured) alongside Maia, 15, and Charlotte, 16, as this year's Momentum Young Ambassadors. Each of them has been supported by Momentum Children's Charity, and now they're channelling their own experiences into something bigger than themselves.

Over the coming year, they'll be fundraising, raising awareness, and giving their voices to campaigns close to their hearts.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Thea captured it perfectly: "For me, being a Young Ambassador means helping other people feel less alone in what they are going through and raising awareness for a charity that has helped me through so much."

With National Volunteers' Week approaching, we want to say the biggest thank you to all five of them. Their time, energy and ideas are already lighting up the year ahead, and we cannot wait to see what they do.

๐Ÿ’š Follow along to see their journey unfold throughout 2026. Stay up to date with by signing up to our newsletter at the link in our bio.

โœจ Feel-Good Friday ๐Ÿ’š Paws for a Cause, the Recap

Last weekend, we laced up our walking boots, clipped on our leads, and set off around Hurst Park for Momentum's very first Paws For a Cause charity dog walk. And what a morning it turned out to be, with passers-by spotting us and even asking to join in too!

From hot drinks and raffle tickets at Miss Polly Cafรฉ, to muddy paws and wagging tails on the path, to celebratory cake back at the cafรฉ: it was a morning full of laughter, community, and pure feel-good energy.

It was amazing to see so many people showing up, joining our CEO Sarah and the wonderful Woody ๐Ÿ• to support families facing serious illness or bereavement.

Together, you helped us raise an incredible ยฃ590.52. Every single penny makes a real difference.

A heartfelt thank you to:

โ˜• Miss Polly Cafรฉ, for hosting us so warmly and making everyone feel right at home.
๐Ÿฉบ The Vet Station in East Molesey, for providing complimentary goodie bags for every dog on the walk.
๐Ÿพ Iryna from Wash Some Paws, for being on hand to pamper our muddy pups and donating a portion of sales to Momentum.
๐Ÿ“ท Max, for taking such wonderful photos.

As our wonderful Annie, who organised the whole event, put it: โ€œWe are so grateful for all the kindness and community spirit shown throughout the day and we canโ€™t wait to do it again! Thank you to our very own Sam, who fundraised with her dog Annie for the event, and raised an incredible ยฃ106.70, proving our family support team truly are the best!โ€

๐Ÿ’ญ Thoughtful Thursday ๐Ÿ’š We will catch you

"It's a great job." "It's a tough job."

As one of our Hospital Family Support Workers, Ciara builds relationships that go far beyond the hospital handover sheet. She gets to know families deeply. Their worries, their routines, the name of their child's favourite toy, their favourite Bluey character. The details that change the way a family experience being inside the hospital walls.

She's there for the whole journey. Finding the right words, even when there aren't any easy ones. Knowing that for the children and parents she supports, being brave isn't a choice.

Ciara knows that every family is different. Thereโ€™s no one size fits all. Different family members need different things, at different times. Ciara keeps listening, so that each person feels understood and supported. There's no rushing. No clock-watching. Just space and time to be genuinely present. Itโ€™s one of the parts of the job she loves the most.

Being a Hospital Family Support Worker is a difficult job. Some days, the work can feel extra heavy. But Ciaraโ€™s not on her own. Thereโ€™s a team behind her. Our Hospital Family Support Workers stay connected throughout the week and check in on each other. Thereโ€™s therapy and time off available when itโ€™s needed. And when the day ends, Ciara bakes, knits, and spends time with friends. Itโ€™s just as important to make sure sheโ€™s looking after herself too, so she can show up fully for every family that needs her.

That's what Momentum's family support looks like. And we're so proud of the people who make it happen every single day.

๐Ÿ’šEvery familyโ€™s story is different. Read more of their journeys via the link in our bio.

No Sibling Alone ๐Ÿ’š The sibling beside the illness

โ€œI wish I had a brain tumour too.โ€

Ellis is nine. Itโ€™s a sentence no parent wants to hear. He didnโ€™t mean the illness itself. He meant the cards. The messages. The way people gather around the ill child when something serious is happening.

At home, Robynโ€™s seizures are called โ€œwobblesโ€. Ellis often notices them before the adults do. He watches closely. He steps in quietly. He has learned how to stay alert without being asked.

Like most siblings, Ellis and Robyn argue and wrestle and wind each other up. And like many siblings living alongside illness, Ellis sometimes feels left behind when hospital days take over. Sometimes he feels frustrated when plans stop suddenly. Sometimes he feels guilty for feeling any of it.

Ellis loves musical theatre and reading. Cricket is his favourite escape, especially when heโ€™s playing with his dad. Routine helps him feel steady when everything else feels uncertain.

In music therapy, Ellis found a way to say things he couldnโ€™t put into everyday words. During one session, he wrote a song for Robyn. He didnโ€™t need to explain it. He didnโ€™t need to be brave. He just needed somewhere his feelings were allowed to exist.

Being the sibling of an ill child is complicated. It holds love, resentment, pride, worry and tenderness all at once. Children like Ellis shouldnโ€™t have to carry that alone.

Your donation helps make sure siblings are seen, supported, and not left behind.

โœ๏ธ Unfiltered Tuesday ๐Ÿ’š One year of Sarah Woods

Twelve months ago, Sarah stepped in as Momentumโ€™s CEO with passion, wisdom and drive.

In that time, she has visited every hospital we partner with across Surrey, London and Sussex. She has sat with families and listened to families talk about what Momentum has meant to them. She walked 28km along the Thames Path for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month alongside some of the families we support. She was nervous going in, but kept going, finding it one of the most rewarding experiences of her year.

This year also saw Sarah and Momentum invited to the Houses of Parliament. Monica Harding MP hosted Spotlight on Momentum, an event that brought families, supporters, corporates and MPs together to hear the real stories of families we support.

โ€Iโ€™ve met volunteers, ambassadors, fundraisers, and heard from parents, siblings, and grandparents about the impact Momentum has had on their lives, and that is what drives me every day.โ€

Sarah carries her commitment to families into the next year, continuing the work we already do, and working to grow our support in the future.

Happy first anniversary, Sarah. The families, the team, and everyone who believes in this work are lucky to have you.

Share this if you want more people to know about the work Momentum does.

โœจ Feel-Good Friday ๐Ÿ’š Pure Joy on the Pitch

This is two-year-old Theo living his best life at the Chelsea FC Women's training ground. That smile says it all.

Theo was diagnosed with kidney cancer when he was just eight months old. Since then, his family has been supported by Momentum, through hospital stays, treatments, and all the in-between moments.

โšฝ Last December, Theo met some of the Chelsea FC Women players during a hospital visit. For a family of Chelsea fans navigating childhood cancer, meeting the team brought so much joy. Theo and his parents treasured the opportunity to spend time with the players, and it made such an impact, that the Chelsea FC Foundation invited them back for a special day at the training ground.

Now that Theo's doing so much better, he spent his day kicking a football around the field and showing us how it's done. And in very good company! Guro Reiten, Lauren James, Millie Bright, Hannah Hampton, Sandy Baltimore, Niamh Charles and Aggie Beever-Jones all joined Theo on the pitch. There were games and giggles, a new toy bear, and hours of smiles.

๐Ÿ’ฌ For his mum Paige, it meant just as much: "It was an experience I'll always remember, and I can't wait to show Theo the photos when he's older."

We're so grateful to the and every player who gave their time to make this happen. Days like these give families breathing space. They create memories that sit alongside the hard stuff, reminding everyone involved that joy still exists, even in the toughest seasons. And when treatment has finished, they're part of moving forward, and embracing that childhood joy.

This is what we do. We're here through treatment, and we're still here after. For as long as families need us.

๐Ÿ’š Follow us to see more of the families we walk alongside.
