For me, moving through nature be it by running or hiking is the most calming and energising ritual, but there are so many ways to experience nature that also don’t have to involve movement! And quite often on my runs or hikes, I stop to listen to the birds and admire the landscape and say hello to the robins and sheep 🙂↔️⭐️
If you can, try to prioritise getting outside more this year. It’ll do ya a whole lotta good ✨💛🌞

I’m releasing six photographs I made between this year and last year as prints available for Christmas if you order this week! They will be limited editions of 30 and available in A3 (€125) and A2 (€200) sizes. Framing is available on request and they are printed by the wonderful 🙂↔️ I will randomly choose a print purchaser to receive their piece for free! ⭐️
PHOTO DETAILS:
1. Silver Strand, Dún na nGall / Shot on Kodak Gold. A lone sheep against the backdrop of the wild Atlantic, on a long hot summers evening.
2. The Atlantic Edge, Sligo. Shot on the summer solstice as the longest day of the year drew to a close. The Dartry mountains looming like a big wave in the background.
3. The Ice Climber, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, French Alps. A lone alpinist faces a giant ice wall as he approaches the famous Aiguille Du Midi Lookout. 3,800 metres altitude.
4. Classie Bawn, Sligo. One of my favourite views in all of Ireland. Taken during the summer solstice as the golden evening light flooded the coast.
5. The Alpinists, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, French Alps. Two alpinists reach the summit of their climb after hours of treacherous climbing up the ice wall. They carry their skis on their back for a quicker descent.
6. The Dove, Mexico City, Mexico. This is a photograph I made in 2019 on Kodak Portra 800. This image is not a limited edition as it has sold at previous exhibitions and fundraisers as a symbol of Peace, but it is one of my favourite photographs so I wanted to include it.
DM me or comment what print number you’d like below and I’ll send you the details for ordering 🌞
All orders placed before Dec 31st at midnight will be entered into a draw to receive their piece for free (I’ll refund you what you paid!) I’ll choose one purchaser at random! ✨🌅🌀⭐️🌞🙂↔️

I had the sheer joy and privilege of spending a couple of days taking portraits with him, strolling around Dublin City and derelict buildings, and his company did the head and heart and awful lot of good.
Rest in peace, Hugh. Love and strength to Martin and all those who love him dearly 🤍

When we had the idea to live out of bags and save money by travelling around, staying in other peoples homes and looking after their pets (as well as spending lots of time hiking, camping and adventuring around Europe and North America) everyone thought we were mad (and we often did too) and we can’t quite believe it all paid off. It is a surreal feeling!
We had so much fun living the free wheelin’ pet sittin’ life, and now it feels so very special and magic to have a place to call our own 🙂↔️
With G going back to college to fulfil his dream of becoming a psychotherapist four years ago (he’s now qualified!) and me being a fully self-employed artist, the idea of being able to buy a home so soon felt often far out of reach, and we can’t quite believe we made it happen. We are two very lucky ducks! 🥲⭐️
I can’t wait for the floor pizza tonight and to pour some love into this home and make it ours! 🧚🏻✨🌀 #newhome

Funny enough, Saturday is Movie Night here at home, Barneys favourite time of the week, because it meant he got homemade pizza crusts. They were his all time favourite, so we wrapped him in his blankie and tucked some crusts in next to his chest. A final snack for his onward journey.
He was ALWAYS up for an adventure. We spent so much time exploring, and he particularly loved forests. We rescued him when he was six months old and he was afraid of water but Eddie, Tom and I taught him how to swim. He loved a wee dip, particularly in a river or stream. His party piece was a trick whereby I would clap my hands and shout “Go Barney Go!” and he would jump and spin around in circles. He lived to entertain.
He liked most when you made a gap between your legs and the couch that he could just about squeeze himself into for a bum scratch or jam his head into your hand for a rub. He had the softest ears on the planet. He came to live with me and Garth for over a year in Sligo in his older age, and he used to love his late night walks because he would steal rouge street chips. He could open doors by hooking his paw around them, and he’d hit your leg a slap if you were in his way or if he wanted food. He adored Betty, our little cat who passed last winter.
We’d sit and watch the waves at Mullaghmore together. He had a tail that spun in circles like a propeller, and he was a great companion to wander with. It felt such a privilege that he trusted me with his whole life and was so affectionate with me, because he reserved that for only a few people. My soul mate.
You sewed yourself into the fabric of my heart the moment you exploded into my life, and there you will forever stay. I’m so very grateful I got to spend so much of my life with you, and I’ll love ya forever. Suaimhneas síoraí star boy Barney, come visit me in my dreams and in the woods and in the breeze. 🌀✨🧚🏻⭐️ #barneyforever #loveyou
I was a curious child; collecting uniquely patterned shells on the beach with my grandfather, and speaking to Na Daoine Uasal (The Noble People, or Fairies) as I walked through forests. I learned about the migratory patterns of birds and stood in awe of the magnificent murmurations of the starlings over Mullaghmore head; The Dartry Mountains a glowing pink backdrop to the spectacle.
I lost touch with this curiosity for some years when I lived far from home, but my return to the West coincided with my introduction to Manchán Magan. I grew up speaking Irish, but reading Manchán’s 32 Words for Field awakened a profound appreciation for the Irish language in me and I’m sure many of you too. What struck me most was his observation that in order to truly understand our native language, one must, at the very least, acknowledge the existence of other worlds besides that which our physical bodies inhabit.
Manchán Magan had a truly magnetic way of sharing knowledge about our land and our language through his writings and his performances that would leave you with a burning desire to learn more. Manchán felt like a messenger between this world and others; someone so wise and enigmatic and luminous who cared deeply about our heritage, land, community, and the spirit of all who came before us and all that exists in the Alltar. How lucky we are to have deepened our understanding of our folklore, mythology and tradition through him. He is part of those stories now, and I believe his flame will burn forever in those who knew him and in those who learned from him. His spirit will carry on dancing in the wind, the waves and the trees. Súil agam go bhfuil tú ag damhsa le na Síoga anois san Alltar. Slán leat a Mhancháin. ✨🌀🧚🌱
I took this portrait of Manchán after his Aran agus Im show in the Hawkswell Theatre in Sligo.

For the first time in very many years I spent the summer close to home, and it was so sweet. I slept a lot in my Big Agnes in beautiful places. I hiked up mountains. I ran even more than I hiked which I’m proud of because it’s been hard getting back into it since the marathon, and I actually ran more consistently than I ever have before thanks to my amazing coach who is kind and encouraging and inspiring. I went whale watching and saw 3 Minkies and floated in the sea during early mornings and orange sunsets. I spent time with family and dogs and horses and chickens and had picnics with friends. It’s a good life! 🤠✌️⭐️
Always hiking in 🌞
