The dome will live out front of their studio space for all to see and experience! Hopefully they will continue to add on and finish the interior in a future workshop style! During the build we had so many curious passersby’s and folks jumping in where they could! It was great to get people thinking and moving back to our roots with hands on experiences!

Ian & Nicolette built 12 earthen domes, interconnected like a necklace or a molecule, in just 12 months. They had no construction experience, no contractor, just the soil beneath their feet.
Using superadobe (earth-filled tubes layered with barbed wire), each dome becomes a single living space (kitchen, bedroom, shower), all connected over time into a growing, flexible home.
What started as life in a camper is now a 2,000 sqft desert homestead:

Inspired by architect Nader Khalili, this isn’t just a house but a system anyone could learn.
Over 1,000 people have already come through their building school.
Their idea is simple:
If more people learn to build from the ground up… something potentially shifts.

Note: Don’t take prices super literal. These are all general estimates. I’ll be super transparent and tell you we’ve easily spent over 100k in one year with about 50k left to spend to get the property comfortable. While the building style is cheap and we are fortunate to not have a labor cost, property development is not cheap. Pricing doesn’t include, water tanks, catchment systems, solar, well, septic, road work, tractor rentals etc. Things just cost a lot of money these days and add up quickly!
But the great thing about it is we’ve done this all without having to hire anything out. So you could say this whole property is completely DIY ran in a workshop format with student builds and finish work by us. Our hope is to show you that this isn’t as daunting as one might think. It takes determination and hard work but one step at a time goes a long long way.
