So how about that weather? I can’t believe how warm it is for February. I mean, it’s not rare to have rain instead of snow (see #Van2010 Olympics helicopters delivering snow to the slopes) but this seems like another level.

It’s been a full year since we had significant snowfall in Vancouver. This week I walked over to Mount Pleasant from the West End (with a leap in the middle thanks to ) and gosh was I a sweaty mess afterwards. 14C 😥

I love spring and cherry blossoms, but a little bit of winter would be nice. It’s devastating to think of how this will affect the snowpack which we rely on later on in the year.

Now that I’ve said it aloud, will we have a blizzard next week? 🥹

The fog is such a mood. It’s been with us since Saturday and life under the cloudy blanket has been such a mood. Foghorns in the harbour every 60 seconds, cars tires slipping on slick roads, and soft halos around the streetlights in the middle of the afternoon.
We get this fog, aka Fogcouver, every few years and my favorite photos are the ones people take from a vantage point like the Cypress Lookout. From there, soaked in the sunshine of the inversion, bridges, condos, office towers, and hotels poke above the pillowy covering like lone islands in a soft white sea.
I included one “here’s what the view would normally look like” photo at the end from January 2025 as a comparison.

Sunrise in Downtown Vancouver. It’s so much easier in the winter when the sun crests the skyline around sam, as opposed to in the summer when it’s around 5am 🥹 But still, I have wonderful friends and
family who will join me for a seaside stroll at any time of year and for that I’m thankful.

The Seawall was so busy this morning! So many joggers, walkers, cyclists, and big groups of people.
There must be some conventions in town, or everyone was thinking the same thing as us: We better get out and enjoy this sunshine while it lasts.

We ducked in at the Ravine Trail and cut up to Beaver Lake. The giant stump in the second to last photo is from a tree that started growing in the 1600s! Thanks to the person who counted the rings.

January so far… I’ve alternated between walking 10-15km a day with rest days in between where I don’t leave my couch and sustain myself on fistfuls of leftover holiday chocolates. The bars on my fitness tracker look like a tide chart.

We just went through a sort of “false spring” this month where the viburnum blossoms and daffodils have sprung in between bouts of torrential rain showers.

The air is so fresh and crisp, the landscape is a vibrant green, and my lips are salty with sea spray after a stroll along the beach.

I’ll never stop being in awe of our beautiful city.

A few of my favourite photos and moments of 2025. I couldn’t fit everything in here, but some highlights of the year included:

⭐️ Having my third book published with
⭐️ Traveling to the Maritimes for the first time
⭐️ Writing for & having an article in
⭐️ Having a photo of mine displayed at a gallery exhibition
⭐️ Witnessing an unforgettable season
⭐️ Being invited on a day sail up Howe Sound with
⭐️ Winning two awards including an honour from the City of Vancouver

From covering the Invictus Games and the WNBA, along with many festivals, to daily walks around the city and a couple of road trips, 2025 was memorable. I don’t know what 2026 will hold but whatever the adventure, you’ll be sure to see my photos here. Thanks for following along!

What a beautiful night in Vancouver! We went for our traditional walk around the downtown on Christmas Eve and it was a lot busier than previous years. Last minute shoppers, folks admiring the lights, families on their way home from Flyover or the market. The bells at the cathedral were ringing as we rounded the corner in front of the art gallery, and people gathered to meet friends or take photos. The rain had stopped and there was so much cheer in the air.
Our dear Vancouver, even when soaked, is a lovely place to be in winter.

December in Vancouver… I’m so far behind on content creation. I was full steam ahead on my “Today in Vancouver” posts until a few months ago then the busyness of the season started chasing me downhill. I do have a collection of photos from December that I have been sharing elsewhere (Threads, Bluesky) but they should also be here.

Some night walks in Downtown Vancouver, our trip to the Sunshine Coast, and a fabulous evening I had with where I was awarded their PR & Media Award 🏆

I hope you can all enjoy the beauty of the season and take some time to pause and head into the new year refreshed and full of the light and love.

Tonight I received the Award of Excellence in the Entrepreneurial Cornerstone category along with fellow recipient Celine Bacani (@ )

A person came up to me afterwards and said: I’m so excited to see two things I love to use everyday get recognized: Lee’s Donuts and Miss604 ❤️

It’s an honour to be recognized but more so to have continued support from people who read the blog, support the arts, donate to the campaigns I spotlight, and attend events I promote in this spectacular city!

“Through storytelling, advocacy, and innovation, Rebecca has made Miss604 a cultural cornerstone and remains one of Vancouver’s most trusted and impactful community voices.“
– City of Vancouver Awards

Congratulations also to fellow recipients and many more including the Vancouver Book Award recipients

Sunrise in the city ☀️ It was so clear in Vancouver this morning you could see every mountain range that surrounds us.

I’ve always been a morning person.

In high school my morning run club met around 6:00am and we’d get in a couple of kilometers before first bell.

For my first big office job I worked Eastern Timd hours in Vancouver so I’d leave my house in Surrey around 5:00am. My brain just likes to get moving right away (and coffee always helps too).

Sunrises are a bit easier to catch in the winter though, when we can stroll down to the harbour around 8 o’clock 😅

Thanks to for giving me access to this cool view, and for the walk home via Granville Island.
