You need to check out. Warm vibes, vegan pizza, and always a good choice.
We shared the Meatballer and Green Flag pizzas.
The Meatballer was my favourite. Hearty, savoury, and so good with their creamy blue cheese dip.
The Green Flag was light, fresh, and nicely balanced.
Dry January called for mocktails. A cozy Dark and Stormy and a refreshing Paloma. Both only $5.

I recently came across 品悦轩 in the Marpole area and was pleasantly surprised. The food is solid and the pricing is very reasonable, definitely worth considering for a family gathering.
We tried the $288 set meal for 6 to 8 people and it was generous. It included soup, two lobster dishes, a whole soy sauce chicken, sweet and sour pork, steamed fish, seasonal vegetables, fried rice, and dessert. Everyone left full and happy.
Even if you don’t go for a set meal, I highly recommend their sweet and sour pork. It’s crispy, not greasy at all, and super pleasant to eat. The kind of dish that makes you keep reaching for more. Their Hong Kong style lobster 避風塘龍蝦 is also very unique. They even added French fries into the dish, which worked surprisingly well.
Tip: there are a few parking spots behind the restaurant 🚗

I recently got my hands on crunchy shallot garlic chilli oil, and when I first opened it, it smelled amazing and not spicy at all. Do not be fooled 😅 it definitely has a kick.
These wings are super easy, crunchy, and packed with flavour. Perfect for lazy nights or game day snacks.
Ingredients 🧄🌶️
- Chicken wings
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Pinch of salt
- Splash of oil
- Yumyumia crunchy shallot garlic chilli oil
How to make it 👇
Add chicken wings to a bowl with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and a splash of oil. Toss until everything is evenly coated.
Place wings into the airfryer and cook at 360F for about 20 minutes. Depending on your airfryer, cooking time may vary. I tossed the wings when there were about 4 minutes left to help them cook evenly.
Once cooked, transfer the wings to a clean bowl. Add a scoop of the crunchy shallot garlic chilli oil and toss until fully coated. Add more if you like it spicy 🌶️🔥
Crunchy, garlicky, and dangerously addictive. Give it a try!

We tried going to IKEA… turns out they were closed. So we drove further into the city and ended up at Central at Garden City instead. We were also planning to check out the new Smart N Save, but we were way too early 😂
Good thing Saku was already open, so lunch it was. It was actually our first time at Saku, even though we’ve passed by their Robson location so many times.
We ordered
🥩 Tokujyo Rosu Katsu
🥩 Miso Katsu
Both sets come with unlimited refills of rice, cabbage, and soup, which is always a win 🤍 We missed out on miso katsu when we were in Nagoya, so I had to try it this time. The katsu here is perfectly fried with a thicker cut of meat. The panko is super crispy, and the pork stays juicy and tender.
The miso katsu was really good too, not drenched in sauce and not overly salty. That said, I personally preferred the Tokujyo Rosu Katsu. I loved having the option to enjoy it without any sauce and really taste the pork.
Definitely a solid spot for a comforting and satisfying meal 🥢

Leaning into a January reset and craving something different, we stopped by in Chinatown for vegan pizzas and mocktails🍕🍹
One thing I really love about Virtuous Pie is how much they make in house. Their dough is fermented for 3 days and their cashew mozzarella is also made in house which totally shows in the flavour and texture.
It’s not my first time here. Last visit we had a pizza and their mac and cheese (still thinking about it 😮💨). This time we tried some of their newer pizzas:
🍕 Green Flag Pizza
🍕 Meatballer Pizza
The meatballer pizza was my favourite. The plant based meatballs had a really nice chew and mushroom-like texture. If you’re a dip person, highly recommend the blue cheese dip. Super creamy and so good.
The Green Flag pizza was nice and fresh. I’d love it even more if the veggies had a bit more crunch. That said, both pizzas had that crispy crust I love.
Since January is also dry January, we tried their mocktails. The Dark & Stormy had a warm ginger bite (ginger is great for digestion and anti-inflammatory benefits), while the Paloma was refreshing and lightly sweet with grapefruit. Best part? Both were only $5 each.

I was in the middle of The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea when Libby decided to test my self control and sent me a “ready to borrow” notification 😝 so of course I paused and jumped into this one.
The story starts off pretty slow. Greta, our main character, is dealing with a lot of life stuff and honestly… I didn’t like her at first. She’s resistant to change and stuck dwelling on her past success, which was frustrating to read.
But as the story unfolds and she keeps visiting this mysterious coffee shop, my perspective started to shift. Her character development really grew on me. The whole concept reminded me of The Vanishing Cherry Blossom Bookshop, where a magical space lets you revisit memories.
At one point I was definitely thinking “why isn’t everyone just going to therapy or marriage counselling” 😅 but I appreciated how everything came together in the end.
I won’t say more because that’s for you to discover ☕️✨
