To cheer up yourself a bit from all that current madness around, sometimes you simply have to remember joys in your life.
For me, one of the biggest joys is to delve into the past of old buildings and having in-person encounters with great artworks.
Once I saw that glorious room in a majestic, unfortunately abandoned, Italian villa with tourbolent history. The huge hall was covered with precious high relief baroque style stuccoes, embedded oil paintings and decorated with an colorful, detailed fresco by a well-known Italian artist. It shows a blend of versatile figures, inspired in the Greek myths.
I loved the fresco, I really enjoyed watching it at leisure! On the other hand it feels totally wrong, that such artwork are exposed to decay and vandalism. I mean, look at that enchanting painting details!
Arethusa, Syrinx, Daphne, words that sounds like magical spells, may be some names of the floating nymphs, which are partially placed on the ceiling.
I mostly like Chloris here, the lovely woman with the basket full of freshly picked blooms. That nymph was identified by the Romans with Flora- the goddess of spring season, flowers and new growth.
May Chloris bring a renewal for that building! And may she bring a PEACEFUL spring to us all as well!

What comes to mind when you look at old wise trees?
When i see those trees i think of many things. I think of childhood memories and how many people have glanced at these same branches whose reached high into the sky, and how many people missed the chance to see the beauty of those silent sentinels of history over all the years.
I feel awe infront of old trees. They are so majestic and at the same time so fragile. Such a tree can show you many things, if you pay attention! Even on a cold winter day...

PS: This old guard was planted after the coalition wars against Napoleon in Germany and as a symbol of hope for peace and a reminder of the horrors of battlefields.

Have you ever heard of this interesting New Year Eve's tradition in Ireland, Wales and Philippines where people like to open their front door to let the old year out, and the New Year in unimpeded?
I think that thereโs no harm in believing in those little superstitions and so I will try it with one of my personal favorite photos of my book - a picture of a half opened antique front door of a old majestic Villa - and say:

Itโs Leo season, chamomile, yarrow, sunflowers, curled dock and wild carrot are in full bloom along the cornfield margins here as I celebrate another trip around the sun. Iโve always associated these country flowers with my birthday, so I quickly decided to pick up some of them and weaved a small wreath plus a simple bouquet together - itโs like to hold on to summer a little bit longer...
Well, that's the way I was "celebrating my day" in the midst of nature. Chirping birds, dancing butterflies, whispering winds in the ripe ears of various grains, warm sunshine - all that connects and soothes me, brings me the feeling of belonging. Today more than ever I'm thankful for those relaxing moments, my "little stops in time"! The older I get, the more often I had the feeling that time is literally slipping through my fingers! Illness, transience and the process of change - I also had to deal with all this things recently - a lot! Actually the last year was more about trying to live in the moment, take life as it comes and accept my limitations and flaws (albeit with gritted teeth๐ )but, heck ya, I'm also a little proud on me on what I've created ๐ช
Nevertheless, I'm imperfect. I'm still learning, but i know more and more what is important and what isnโt. Iโm eating more vegetables (+ the cake) and iโm prioritizing skin protection and good mobility trainings more than make up or intens high speed runnings. Iโm seeking out the comfortable shoe over the cuter one (Hell no, wearing 4" high stilettos for a long period of time isn't really comfortable!) I'm letting go easier and allowing myself to be sad sometimes. I'm more than ever grateful for my family and those loyal friends who wholeheartedly support me, because actions speak louder than words. Old saying, but still so ๐ฆ true! And I'm trying to find a bright spot in something every day, and (most important) don't lose my sense of humor, hopefully!(Pro tip: Sarcasm adds 3 years to your life)
Well, that's enough wisdom and sentiment for one post I think๐
So, here we go again, I'm ready for the next 365 days around the sun! I'm still discovering. I'm still evolving. I'm still trying...
